Hello,

I've been reading the buying Mahindra forum for a while and just purchased a new 2415 Gear model. It was the only 2415 the dealer had left and not being the HST model didn't seem to matter too much since I don't mow or have an immediate advantage for the live PTO and I feel like a got a really good deal. Anyways, new to this tractor and Mahindra after having a little Satoh Beaver and looking for anything to watch for on this tractor. I have five acres of trees and a bit hilly and sandy. I will use to plow snow, move wood, light digging, road grading, etc. Any recommendations for chains good/bad for these tractors? Thanks for anything else.

Steve

I would say you should be looking forward to a lot of good trouble free service out of this tractor. For the most part I sell these Mitsubishi tractors and rarely have any issues, and have never had a mager issue. I can't say enough about the reliability I have seen out of them. As for the chains, if you have enough clearance to the fenders they sure would help on the snow and ice. To my knowledge I've had no customers use chains, so I am not sure about the clearance issue. I also don't have one on the lot right no to check. Good luck and enjoy your 2415.

I would say to just be aware of its capabilities. I have a 2015 which is about the same size and weight as your 2415, and I don't have too much trouble picking up the rear tires when doing loader work on inclines. And that's with loaded tires. With the hoe on the back, it won't happen. Seeing as how you have the same weight, more loader lift capacity, and a slightly larger bucket volume capacity, it will be easier for you to do the same. Just be carefull, load the tires, get a weight box, or leave an implement on the back.

I just looked underneath my 2415 and there is definitely room for chains in there. However, I would try it with just some weight on the back before I purchased the chains. I tried out mine for the first time the other day in the snow and I was surprised how good the traction was. Granted, I wasn't pushing much snow but it was crusty and icy(ice storm). I do have a backhoe though, which is excellent ballast.
Maintain your machine according to the manual and you will be more than pleased with your machine.

Thanks for the info...I put a few hours on it the last couple of days and really like the tractor. Even though it is still a small tractor it feels huge compared to the Beaver. I plowed snow for an hour or so this evening and it did pretty well the bigger blade is nice...have a pretty good hydraulic leak though in one of the fittings on the FLE, looks like just loose connection but my hands were too cold to tighten it up before it got dark. I'm going to try some chains tomorrow. Thanks again.
