I am new to posting on TBN but have read posts here for several months. I just bought an L-3400 HST with a FEL, BH-75 and Land Pride 72" Brush Cutter, 12" post hole digger, and 60" box blade. The dealer will deliver the tractor and implements this coming week. I have spent several months looking at many brands of tractors and just kept coming back to Kubota. I live in rural Eastern Utah but drove to Fort Worth, Texas in late September and stopped at JD and Kubota dealers in many cities along the way down and back. I saw and test operated many models of tractors. My favorite was an L-3240 but it's extra cost and size just couldn't be justified for my requirements.
I have 6 one acre pastures each fenced. I have grass growing in each and need a mower. I have a new barn and need the back hoe to dig trenches for new buried electrical lines and to clean silt away from my head gate in the irrigation canal behind my property.
I have operated tractors for over 30 years but never on ground...always underground. I worked in underground coal mines for 30 years and retired three years ago. We used Kubota and John Deere tractors for many tasks in the mines. It will be a new experience for me to operate a tractor in natural light and with room to turn around.
I will try to keep my camera ready when my tractor arrives next week and will post photos.
I just want to thank everyone who has posted on TBN for the last few years. I think I read every post while trying to decider which model to buy.

Welcome Tom:

The L3400 is no doubt a solid workhorse. I'm sure you will enjoy yours as I have mine.

I do recommend getting the dealer to put a sunshade and some front and rear worklights on before deliver as another poster said. Now might also be the time to think about a rear remote or two. Of course all of this could be added later if you decide.

Welcome to the forum Tom. Lots of good info here. I hope you enjoy your L3400HST as much as I do mine.

My wife and I raise miniature horses. Right now we have 35. I plan to add a sunshade if the tractor fits everywhere I need to use it without lowering the ROPS.

Congrats on a great tractor. I looked long and hard at the L3400 before the CFO in a moment of weakness agreed to go with the L3240 :)

BTW check out the TUFFTOP sunshade that comes on/off easily, allowing you to fold your ROPS. I love mine.

Thanks Talon Dancer
I'll check out the TUFFTOP. I went to the dealer with the intention of buying a L3240. He had one parked right next to a L3400. I had seen the 3400 at another dealer but it was parked next to several BX's and looked large. But when I saw it next to the 3240 I realized the 3400 would fit through most of my existing gates and I wouldn't have to lower the ROPS to drive through my barn. I had to decide between what I wanted and what was more practical. I chose the 3400 but don't consider it too much of a sacrifice.

My new tractor was delivered last Tuesday afternoon. I was able to run it around for about one hour before dark and then I had to leave the next morning and drive to Phoenix for the funeral of a good friend. I got home last night. While I was gone we got about 6" of very wet snow and the temperatures are now in the mid teens at night.
Today I just played around moving snow with the FEL. I had planned to cut the over grown pastures with the 72" Land Pride rotary mower I bought with the tractor but since the pastures are covered with frozen snow I guess that will wait until spring.
I have been able to clock about 2 hours on my tractor since it was delivered. Because of the heavy snow we got while I was gone it looks like most of my time will be spent learning to use the front end loader.
