Hello,

I finally got around to getting a little tractor, an Iseki 1610. I had a couple of questions:

First of all, what's the best way to find a dealer/mechanic who will service these? It's a little old and I'm sure I'm going to need some help eventually. The tractor dealer up the road (carries Club Cadet) sniffed that he wouldn't know anyone that would touch a grey market tractor. A little rude even when I was talking to him about buying several thousand dollars worth of implements.

Anyway, I'm in the Charlotte, NC area if anyone knows someone.

Second question, and this is real basic. What does the Category refer to on a three point system. I thought I must have a Cat 1 on the 1610, but I went and bought a disc and the bolts on the disc are larger than the attachment arms. Is the 1610 a Cat 0? Can I just switch out the bolts on the disc to fit it?

Thanks a lot for any information I can get.......Rich Deming

Welcome to Tractorbynet, Rich. While many tractor dealers may not be willing to work on grey market tractors, I'll bet if you ask around, you'll find independent mechanics who will. As for the 3-point category sizes, see this thread from long ago.

Thanks a bunch Bird, that clears it up. I'm still going to try to make that CAT 1 disc work on my CAT 0 tractor.......

Rich,

I don't want to burst your bubble but.......

Sitting behind my garage is a Iseki TS 2205. It is there because I couldn't find parts that I could afford or a person in my area who would work on my tractor. My injector pump, I think went bad, I can't find anyone who know what injector pump I have. It is a Japanese pump which is a "type" of bosch. I finally got tired of trying to find help and bought a Mahindra 3325. I bought it because in my area there are 4 dealers within 100 miles and 2 within 50 miles, one is 20 miles from my front door.

BTW there is a Iseki dealer in NC.

used compact tractors, front end loaders, backhoe attachments, implements

Newton, NC Corriher Implement Co They sell Hinomoto , Shibaura Iseki, Mitsubishi, Satoh , Yanmar

I found these two by just doing a google search which said "Iseki Tractors in North Carolina".

There are guys on here who can help you. But in my area there was one guy who imported iseki's and told me I would have problems getting parts for an Iseki TS2205. So I bought a new Tractor. I know I spent right under $9,000 but I have an brand new tractor with 3 year warranty. So far I love my Mahindra tractor.

Rich, I have an Iseki TS1610F (the 4wd model) and it does have a Cat. 1 3-point hitch. I think only the very small tractors, like JD garden tractors, etc. have a Cat 0. As for parts, there are many grey market dealers around and on this forum, and there are Isuzu diesel motor distributors /suppliers on line that will sell you new parts for that motor....I got all the rebuild parts I needed to do a complete top end rebuild for mine. (Turned out I only needed new rocker arms and rocker shaft, but that's another story.) PM me on this forum and I will let you know where I bought my new Isuzu parts...... reasonable prices too.

Welcome Rich. I only recently joined this group. An excellent place for information and ideas. I have a Bolens/Iseki G194 (4WD) 1982 model and have been told parts are hard to come by as well. Several of the members have parts/books/manuals,etc that may be of help to you.....just ask someone in this group will point you in the right direction.

There is a difference between a Grey Market Tractor and a Grey Market which was made to sell under a different brand. Example some Yanmar, I am told are just red John Deeres, likewise Iseki did make Massey Fergenson at one time. Also Iseki was maketed in the US as a Bolens or White. If you buy a the right tractor there is some crossover on parts but I bought a tractor which was only made for japanese market. So a gasket for the thermostat was going to cost me about $20.00 after it was imported. I Bolensmade one so that was no big deal but oil filters were 3 for $19.95. At first i thought i need a water pump I was told it had to be order from Japan.

I search ed and search and could never find a service manual for my TS2205. I got a parts mauuel but a lot of it is written in Japanese. Len got me one that is almost the same. i think it is a Bolens G242.

There is on Iseki dealer in the US and that is in Hawaii.

Len on these board from Ill is uite helpful. He can get you used parts. i think he even buys Iseki's to part out.

Hope everything goes well with you.

BTW you cna tell how mny HP you have by the model njumber. TS 2205 is 22 hp. First two numbers is hp.

This is what i have learned in about 4 years on these board. BTW the guys on here are great they will try to help you if they can. My problem is I am not a mechanic by any means and Ii needed to have all my work done. NO body within 50 miles would work on my tractor. So i parked it and bought a new Mahindra.

Actually Iseki still makes the MF small tractors. I have a GC2300 that I bought new last year and it's Iseki.

My 1981 Bolens was also Iseki and some of the MF parts fit it....you just have to find a dealer that will work with you...most want to find the part in the computer and have no knowledge.....there are places out there that will help you get the parts you may need.

The older Iseki tractors with an Isuzue engine are harder to get parts for. They use the same engine as the Bolens 192/4 & 242/4 & many of the other parts are the same. The problem is that Bolens does not supply parts for the Iseki model tractors since Bolens was bought by MTD. I do have a couple TS1610 parts tractors & can supply most of the engine parts from US sources at a better cost than I previously could. A TS1610 injector pump should work on a TS2205 or I can probably rebuild your pump. I also buy all brands of Japanese built tractors for parts.

Any diesel shop can rebuild your injector pump, it is not even a stretch for them. We have had those pumps rebuild in the past and I have never had an injector shop ever care what tractor brand it came from. I would say parts are far harder to find for a Ford compact of the same era.
