It would seem in many cases on many brands, nobody wants to pay $70 for a hydro-filter. Doesn't matter what it ought to be. 
From all I've read the hydro-filters of some machines have some extremely fine filtering capabilities. To filter as fine as they do and flow the amount they do under the pressures they run, it's kinda impressive really...
