Just bought a small tractor this winter, used it a few times moving snow and I'm really looking forward to using it this summer. I need to put in new fience, mow some pasture ground and put in a creek crossing in the timber. My wife tells me today that the "BIG PROJECT" of the summer is going to be to gut and remodel the upstairs of our house. Now how am I going to get my tractor up there:rolleyes: Good news is that we have a few months to get it all done. She is wanting to have the kids move their bedroom upstairs so our goal is to be finished by August. I think I can fit our "BIG PROJECT" into my small schedule:p

Sounds like you need to get started now on building the dirt bank ramp to get the tractor up to the second floor for demo work. A Sawzall will make a big enough opening to get the tractor through the wall.

use it to run the boom pole for hauling materials up?

Throw the guts out the window and then use the tractor to load the dumpster.

Yea but can't I just get her a matching tractor instead:rolleyes: I guess it is true that turn abouts fair play. It just stinks that I'm the one having to turn around but I'VE GOT TO KEEP MAMA HAPPY!! Time to dust off the hammer and crowbar and who knows maybe I'll get some more powertools out of the deal. I think my cordless drill is not working:D

Are all your bedrooms down stairs now? If so that will leave the wife and you ALONE on the first floor:):):)
On a more serious note,My kids sleep up stairs ,we are on the first floor.Have a couple good fire escape routes, and a known plan of what they are to do if the alarms go off,Have a meet up place outside.Make sure with the fireescapes YOUcan go in that way too,in case they cant get out.

A BIG A++ for you on this one. Being that I'm a volunteer firefighter, this is one thing my family and I practice several times a year, even in the middle of the night I've gotten up and set off the alarm to see what they will do. As practiced they woke up each other (they share a room 5 & 7 yr olds) and went for the window (1st floor bedroom which dumps to the porch) climbed out and ran to the machine shed. High prases were given to the kids. I will be installing ladder ropes for their upstairs bedroom and we will need practice on this new adventure. Also I'm looking at getting the voice recorded smoke alarms that beep as well but also play a recording of your voice. They are suppost to help children in emergency situations. We'll see, so I'm going to install them and see.

IM glad your already on top of things,A++++ TO YOU ALSO. Ithought of rope ladders, but i want to be able to get up there in case they dont come out,and fire is blocking my entrance from the first floor.Ibuilt a holder to hold my aluminum ladder[vertical] right under the oldest kids window its the primary 2nd floor escape route.Ive had them practice going down barefoot also.If fire blocks that way ,they can go out on the porch roof on the other end of the house.By the way, thats the age my kids were when they first went up stairs.
