I've tried to get my head wrapped around it, but it just ain't happenin'. Picked up a couple of Pointsettias on sale for $3.00 each and set them out. Might do a small fake decorated tree more like a table top center piece. Maybe a couple of other small trinkets. That'll be about it. Not planning on any lights inside or out.

Got too much on my mind not going right and too many things bugging me and I just can't get past a few of them.

Never has been my favorite time of year, but I've managed to fake my way through it most of the time. This one is going to be much .... less ...

Too much dark. Too many demons.

Bah!

A lot of us feel that way. I put up a small Charlie Brown tree, a light in the window, and a few decorations which people have given me over the years.
Christmas for me is a day when I pick a project which I never have time to do any other time. This year I plan to build a small greenhouse on the end of my henhouse.

Won't you have snow on the ground?

I have a Kubota, snow's not a problem. ;)

Christmas day is nearly at the end of.December.
You will need your long johns or your snowmoblle suit working on that greenhouse.

Got out of gift giving many, many years ago. Only bought one gift this year. A VICE for my lady friend. Her new house had one in the workshop, and on closing day it was gone. Partly, because when I go there, I miss using one. Only other gift may be something for the cats from the Deli.

We don't do it but still have to give the girls a couple of hundred each to buy something plus it was the youngest daughters birthday two days ago, took them all out for lunch and they picked the most expensive thing on the menu.
Got a turkey from wife's work same as every year so I will stick that in the Ziggy (a bit like a Weber Q but cooks hotter and can BBQ with the lid open if I like) along with some roast veges on boxing day if it isn't too hot, serve with the usual cherry sauce and then fall asleep in front of the TV later.

A standing joke with our neighbor who always used to boast her tree was up first:

"Our tree is up, where's yours?"

The other day was the first time in 48 years together that we had Thanksgiving with just the two of us. The peace & quiet, the lack of stress on my wife, was great.

Both daughters and their husbands had visited for a simpler Sunday Dinner the previous week so we called that our family Thanksgiving get together. Three vegans, two lactose intolerant, two no onions or garlic, its a wonder my wife can plan a nice meal that everyone enjoys, but she does. (Three of us ate turkey, some kind of beans magic was enjoyed by the rest.)

Now if we can just keep Christmas as tranquil ...

I will spend Christmas Eve with wife, kids, grandkids and great grandkids. Begin with evening church services,to my place for covered dish followed by gift exchange then conversation and parlor games. Fairly typical and conventional I suppose except number and type gifts. A popular gift is tickets for intertainment and sports events during following year that we attend in small groups. Last year I built rustic, hammer welded fire pokers for the boys and jewelery boxes for girls. I always injoy Christmas and I can't recall the last time I felt anxiety leading up to,during or following the holidays.

A woman without a "VICE"....now THAT..... is difficult to find.

I believe any 'holiday spirits' will be the bottled variety this year, and I don't do that to any degree.

2019's been a major kick in the head (and a few other places) and '20 ain't lookin' all too rosy.

It is about celebrating the birth of Christ....the rest is just BS and greed.

If someone is not a Christian, they should have enough conviction in their beliefs not to celebrate the holiday. Go to work and fill in for those who do, and they can work for you when you celebrate whatever matters to you.

Good for you and your family! Basically we do the same.

Too many people have forgotten the True Meaning of Christmas and why we celebrate Christmas.

Diggin It, I'm reading between the lines here but it seems like there has maybe been some kind of life changing event recently. Maybe you posted it and I missed it. I wish I had some brilliant advice other than to say its common for people to get depressed this time of year. All you can do it keep moving forward as best you can.
