.....they are going to raise the price .25 every 1/2 hour until they are out! I needed fuel anyway but saw several folks rushing up to the pumps in a panic to fill up. I figured while I was there I went ahead and topped off both tanks in the truck and filled 4ea 5 gal cans while I was there with diesel and 2 cans with gasoline. Things are going to get ugly....

Its called price gouging. A friend of mine who drives a semi in Atlanta called me this morning and said he saw gasoline there at $3.85 a gallon! The Tennessee Attorney General was quoted in the local news paper as saying Tennessee had better not see any price gouging after the storm and if they did find someone gouging they would impose the maximum penalty on them. Prices in Chattanooga today remained around $2.60 a gallon.
Looks like Georgia could care less about price gouging. And to beat it all, Georgia's gas tax is about .10 cents less per gallon than Tennessee!

Gasoline prices in SW Indiana went up over one dollar a gallon today!!! If that isn't price taking advantage of a natural disaster, I don't know what is. Yesterday I filled up at a high $2.49 a gallon. Today, the cheapest gas is now $3.69 a gallon for regular octane unleaded! /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif There should be some legal repercussions over price gouging with that sort of spiking to take advantage of people due to a natural disaster! /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

Here in Central Florida the gas jumped up from 2.56 to 2.80, and they expect to run out tomorrow. The school buses system will be out of fuel by Friday. Orlando schools burn 4,000 gallons per day and only received 1,000. Parents are expected to drive their children to school, but how long with that last when we run out of fuel? I think we are going back to the 70's, and will have odd and even days to get fuel based on license plates... I hope we don't get another hurricane, then everyone will run to the gas stations to get gas for their generators! This could get even worse! I can visualize the fighting at the pumps!

After 3 hurricanes I bought a fuel caddy and have 30 gallons of fuel stored, but I really don't want to use it except for emergencies.
