After waiting for what seems forever, a dealer in Fredricksburg Virginia just received the new 2500 series Cub Cadets. I rushed over there today and bought the GT2544, what a sweet machine. 20 HP Kolher Command engine, 44" deck with hose connections on both left and right sides for under deck cleaning, black chassis, push button reverse blade lockout by-pass, 12 volt accessorie plug below the seat. Funny, I am more excited about the tractor than I was when we purchased our home. Im in pig heaven now, just had to tell someone...... /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I checked your pix. Very nice looking machine. I recently got a newer Cub (7205) and it was very pleasant to get a new toy. I think I can appreciate how you are feeling! That 2544 should last you many years. My last Cub was a '70's 149 and it still runs and mows. Getting a bit ragged but it has paid its dues and then some! Good Luck!

Hi Folks,

I know how you feel. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I just bought the other day a 2005 GT2550 and am waiting until March 12 for delivery. I live in what I call "snowbelt central" of upstate NY where I can get lake effect snow from both Lake Erie and Ontario, so it will be mid-April before I will need to start doing any mowing.

This machine is my first lawn tractor purchase. I have been sharing with my folks a '72 Wheel Horse Raider, 10 hp, 48" deck that my dad owns.

Hay... I just ordered the 2544 recently and know that I will need to change one of my fence gates to accomodate the overall width of this tractor. However, the dealer wasn't sure exactly what the width would be. We figured 48" should allow the tractor with deck to clear. Can you measure yours and let me know?

Thanks a bunch and let us know your thoughts on this model.

Sorry for the delay, has been a couple of weeks since I'v been to the forum. Overall width with the deck with the shute up is 49". Have to tell you I love it so far. Now you need to understand it now has 11 hours on it and has yet to cut the first blade of grass. I've been riding it up and down the street for all my neighbors to see under the pretext of breaking it in. There are two things that bother me tho, one is the leg room. Im 6' tall and 225 lbs, I feel like the steering wheel is much too close and thats with the seat all the way back. The second item is the tripple bagger grass catcher, the lid does not seat all the way down on the right side which leaves a gap between the lid and the far right bag. I can see this will mean grass shooting out the gap above the 3rd bag. I gone over the assemble instructions again and again, all seems to be put together correctly. Guess my nest step is to return to the dealer and have them look at it.

Did you get the bagger situation corrected on your 2544? I was looking at this and the 2042 and the dealer said the 3 blade 2544 would not bag as well as the 2 blade 2042. Do you know anything about that? Have you cut with your 2544 yet? Did you compare the two?
Thanks

Can anyone help compare and contrast 2 blade cubs (2042) vs 3 blade cubs (2544). The dealer says the 2 bladed models bag better. Is there any difference in the cut (only 2 inches differentiate the two decks). Is it worth $450 more for a 3 blade? I have heard different pros and cons from 2 and 3 blade units and any input would be appreciated.
Thanks
