Hey all,

I'm new to the Forum, just picked up an 89 316 w/ a 48" snow blower and 48" mower deck. I'm pumped to have it and I see that there is a ton of info on this site.

The previous owner said that is "dies when it gets hot, but if you shut the PTO off it starts right back up" I mowed my whole lawn the other day and it ran fine after putting a new battery in it.

I'm getting about 12.6V at the battery at WOT which I think is a little low and the battery light did come on and off during the first mow.

I found a great post on here detailing how to test out the charging system so that will be my first task. I'll try and post up some pics of the old girl at some point.

Thanks

Some of the dying when hot was due to the exhaust valve sticking in the guide when it expanded from being too hot. A sodium filled exhaust valve cured the problem.
