05' JD 790 - 53' Ford NAA - 70' Massey Fergusen 135 diesel - 67' John Deere 3020 deisel - 77' John Deere 2130 - 1950 John Deere MC
Just sold my GMC diesel 1 ton, all done with the new crap. Minor repairs with the turbo were $500. Can't even think about working on it for under $200. The thing that made up my mind was I did a rear brake job on my 77' F-350, all told under $100 bucks, new shoes and e-brake cables. That old big block might not have the HP of the diesel but she's got gears the GMC only dreams about. Decided for my use the old girl does it just fine, and I don't need a computer to fix it. Granted this is a farm truck and I can't remember going more than 15 or 20 miles with it but it would if I needed to I am sure.

I here you there. I had to have the turbo on my 06 6.0PSD removed, cleaned, and reinstalled with a new rubber elbow and it cost me nearly 500.00 bucks for that. I was ticked off. But I don't have anything to replace the F250 with, so I keep her. Otherwise she has been trouble free.

You could always do some engine mods on your 77' and get a little more power out of her. B.

If I did not drive as much as I do, I would have a older f350 as a daily driver. ... They are to tough on the back to drive 100+ miles a day

I love my old diesel powered F250s. Total workhorses. IMO the 70s Fords were some of the best trucks of all time.

I'm not saying I don't like the diesel, we have an 05 E-350 diesel van, we do a delivery route with, several hundred miles per week. Love that, has been trouble free, knock on wood, but when it starts giving us problems it will be traded before the parts come in. That gets 20 MPG, from what I heard the new diesels get less MPG than the new gassers so I don't know if we will get another diesel or not. That's actually my wife's, as for my trucks I won't have anything with a computer, if I can help it.
