After doing searches on filters, oil, etc. for my 2005 CC 2042 Here's what I have determined. Please verify if this is correct.

oil filter Carquest 85516 (2x longer than oem)
Oil - Mobil 1 10wx30

Trans filter Carquest 85410
CC fluid for the rear.

I've read to change the oil after the first 5 hours and the trans filter after the first 5 or 10 hours (have to read my manual again). Trans filter again at 50 hours, then every 100 hours after that.

I hated to post this question again, but there was so much information in multiple posts, just want to be sure I understood correctly.

Them's the ones! I just picked up a couple more 85516's for my pre winter oil changes /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. One for my ford windstar, one for my 2544 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif M1 is awesome, but I'm not sure it's needed unless you mow commercially (tons of hours), or use the tractor in extreme cold. Any quality 10w-30 if fine for the residential user. You wont gain anything by using M1 in this application.(just my opinion!!)

When looking for a cross ref to a filter I usually take a look at either the Wix or Baldwin web sites. Put in the original number and it will x-ref. Like the Baldwin site as it give a good tech description of the filter.

As for the trans service, if you are correct, there have been some changes since I bought my 3xxx 2 yrs ago. First filter change @ 100 hrs and at ever 50 hrs afterwards. That doesn't make sense to me. Would also suggest you take a look in this forum for a very long discussion of the trans fluid. Several months back when I did my first trans service the dealer was wanting $13/qt for the fluid. Going by the manual this transaxle is spendy to maintain.
