Just got back from the JCB dealer and the New Holland dealer. I was very unimpressed with the local jcb dealer. I walked in and they just had an attitude like they wanted to get rid of me cuase it was a half hour till closing time. No one offered any information to me on the skid steers, or didn't really want to talk to me they just pointed me to the rack of brochures. I'm not sure why since they might of had a customer. So JCB is out of the question. But on my way to that dealer i passed by a NH dealer and stopped in on the way back. They were very friendly, they brought me out showed me the machines, the different features and benifits. Then gave me an array of literature and price sheets on the different machines, so I am very impressed with the dealer over there.

But anyways I was wondering if anyone had any expirence with the NH skid steers I was looking at the L160 for parking lot snow removal. There wouldn't be to much no pushing cuase i have a truck for that just snow moving.

thoughts and opinions?

I use an LX665 New Holland for snow removal with an 84" utility bucket. Our 1994 LX665 is pretty much the same as a current LS170. The LX665 has been a good machine for us. We haven't done much at all to ours except normal maintenance.

Positive :
Power - I'd consider the LS170 to get the turbo engine. The turbo really helps when lugging the machine with a full bucket of snow.
Quiet - New Holland skid steers are quiet running machines. I use my ear muffs only to keep warm.
Excellent Lift & Carry Abilities - I like the stable nature of New Holland and Deere machines. The Super Boom is perfect for our needs.

Gripes:
Foot pedals - Ours has the worst-operating foot pedals of any New Holland that I have ever run. They are very difficult to feather. I have run probably at least a dozen New Holland machines other than ours and every one has smoother operating pedals than ours does. When it was in for service we had the dealer work on them. They were better, but still not as good as other New Hollands. Chances are, you'll get a good one.
Computer - Ocassionally, our LX665 will shut itself down when operating. You can switch off the key and refire it immediately. Some error code in the computer. It doesn't happen often and I don't feel like going to the expense of having the dealer check it out.

thanks for the input. The dealer told me he wouldn't go lower than a 170 for my application.

Yeah the JD 2210 was bought for the parking lot but its just not doing what we want it to. Not enough lift capacity or height. And since its not really used for anything else I think a skid steer is better than a bigger tractor.

i have a rental store and this past week i had nh,gehl and case here. the case had poor visibility, the nh foot controls i didn't like. nh seat belt didn't like. but u can get the controls changed. the gehl has so so visibility, less hp than the other 2. ? good or bad that the gehl lifts close 2 the other 2 but with less hp. would u say hard on the machine or that is impressive?

next week i will look at jd. the sales man says there is a hill that only a jd skid can go over. yea because it is fenced in and they don't let any 1 else in!!!!! LOL /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

I had an LS160 Three years ago. I felt that The machine was well built but lacked the traction I needed for the work I was doing. The LS 160 and the Harley Rake combo was an excellent working package. I sold the unit and purchased a cat 257 and never looked back.

Toy1,

Just curious how your Cat Multiterrain loader works in snow. I went to a Bobcat open house last year and the rep said that they don't recommend their compact track loaders for snow because the tracks tend to freeze up and also the machines can slide around quite a bit, apparently because of the low psi of the track on slippery surfaces.
