John Deere 316
Whats my old 316 worth? It still runs good. It smokes a little on start up, but uses very little oil. I ordered a new X530, don't need them both..

I just bought a X530, you'll love it, four years ago I sold my 216 when I bought a 2305, kicking myself now. It would have been a nice backup tractor, just wasn't thinking. I'd keep it unless you need to use the money toward the X530.

I have no idea what it would be worth but I do know that the JD 300 series of tractors were some of the best tractors built in that time frame. There are always exceptions of course........the 317 twin cylinder Kohler powered tractor was one of the biggest headaches JD has ever had to endure.

I have an early eighties vintage 314 that is still mowing my lawn today. The only thing I have had to replace was the electric clutch coil once and I bought a replacement deck for it I'll say 5-6 yrs ago. I will admit....I screamed "Outch" when I picked up the deck (bare stamped steel painted yellow...no running gear).....the check I wrote was just shy of $1100. Oh well.....the tractor has been real good to me for what must be real close to 30 years.

Thanks for the replies. I really have no reason to keep it around. I think I'm going to ask $1000.00 for it. If it don't sell I will re-power it this winter, and then the price goes up!!!

Is there a way to know what year this tractor was manufactured?

It finally quit raining long enough for me to mow yesterday with my new X530. It did a awesome job, but I think I'm going to try to fit my old 316 seat on there. It just doesn't seem very comfortable.I was very disappointed in the RIO. If I cant figure out how do disable the switch, I'm not sure I'm going to keep it. I have a hill that I mow, so when I back up to mow around the water meter, or what ever else, I have to take my hand off the handle on the fender to pull up that stupid button. That is a very poor design. I hate disabling any safety features, but I cant live with this one..
