Mine is a subframe mount and the dealer took the nice 'air ride' seat off and installed a much cheaper rotating seat like you discribe. The lower (only) bearing came apart the first time I sat in it with the pin removed. I now see a warning on the net, that this will happen if you don't put the pin back in. I was in one of those situation where I was using the hoe for about a minute, then moving the tractor to the next spot. That pin is a real pain to mess with..

I took the broken rotating seat back to the dealer and exchanged it for the much better OEM seat.

I was going to modify it like shown on John's Tractor site but have since come up with a plan to moun a small fold down seat on the back of the sliding seat.. With the OEM seat slide all the way forward there is enough room for this and I don't compromise the seat belt system.

To answer Johns question, the only time I have oil come out of the vent holes in the plug is when I'm loading/unloading the tractor without ramps and the angle of the climb is kinda steep. Not a big deal and sure beats dealing with ramps. Sure impresses the 'sidewalk supervisors' when I put it in low low 1st/4wd and let it creep up onto the trailer. BTW, my railer has a very low bed since it has a torsion axle.

Agree with that bearing in that seat. As soon as you put any pressure on it, it pops out of the race. So far, have been happy with the swivel spring seat, I made last spring.

Never thought about putting a seat on, like you mentioned. Post a pic when you do it.

I tended to lose hydro fluid out of my rear tube as well. I've got some pretty steep hills i go up every other day. I just cut the curve off the "J", stuck on 6" of plastic tube and a fuel filter on the end to keep out solids. Works fine and tank stays topped off. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I have been through the Blue Ridge Mnts a few times, and yes they are steep! Have some decent hills here too. Was just trying to understand how steep we are talking about.

BTW, it is part of the chinese design to help prevent rust to immediate area! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Hello Dirtpoor, have you already made your special seat for the backhoe? Can you post a picture of it, because I am going to make me one too. I am just sitting like a monkey when I am working with my frame mounted JW03backhoe at my Jinma 224!!! /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
