For TBNers who live in upstate New York, southern Vermont, western Massachusetts, or western Connecticut and are now shopping for their first John Deere compact tractor or are looking for an upgrade, I'd suggest visiting K.C. Canary's Open House to be held Saturday, March 8, 2003, 9am-5pm. Lunch served at Noon. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I purchased my JD 4710 from K.C. Canary last Spring. It has been one of the best, trouble free purchases I've ever made. While I've always been an advocate of comparison shopping, you may find K.C. Canary to be your one stop shop for all your tractor needs. They are fair, VERY competitive, with staff that are professional in every respect, not to mention also being a pleasure to interact with.

Following link shows my 4710 and tells a bit about the history of my purchase decision.

Rancar,
I am going to try my hardest to get there the 8th. Only thing that can stop me is snow, only because I have to open two schools, three banks, etc, etc.

Hi Jim...

I hope to finally meet you in person! See you on the 8th.

Look forward to it. Not exactly sure of the time I'll be there. It'll depend on weather and other personal commitments I may have that day. Will try to be there for lunch though. Hope to see you then.

Well....I attended KC-Canary's open house today and it was the best open house I attended.

I had the fortunate opportunity to meet a couple other TBN members.....

Jim Crowley (JC4HD) and his wife Betty.....a gregarious couple who made the trip all the way up from their home in Rockland County, NY. Jim and Betty.....it was great meeting you and I regret we didn't have more time to chat on things. I'm attaching a picture of the Frontier 1172 landscape rake with the grader blade folded down. This shows a better view of what we were discussing and maybe it'll help you better decide if this or the boxblade is the way to go.

Harold (mopar)....likewise it was a pleasure meeting you....however brief it was. You looked happy enough though with that jovial smile on your face /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif and walking away I was thinking you were in the process of inking a deal with Mark Brucker. Didn't realize though you had already done so having learned it through your posting in LouG's thread on his 4410. Hope to chat with you further here in the forums. Drop me a PM on anything if I can answer any questions.

What was particularly heartening for me was a small custom job that I had given to Jason Cook.....KC-Canary's technician who preps all the compacts and lawn tractors. I had a carryall that I'm rehabbing. I needed to replace lower lift pins due to the old one's incompatibility with the draft links on my 4710. I searched high and low for replacement pins and couldn't find any due to their unusual thread pattern. I had mentioned it to Jason who was out at my place and he says, "No problem.....send me the old pins and brackets and give me the specs of what you need and I'll make you new ones." Wow...this was great. Without these pins I feared I would have to purchase a whole new carryall. Well, I did what Jason asked.....I gave him the specs and sent him the old pins and bracket assemblies and he was true to his word. I picked them up today....they looked like they could be sold as new product....they were made that well. On top of it all.....it was done at minimal cost to me. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif If anyone is planning on purchasing from KC-Canary and are concerned about future service needs.....well, don't be. Jason Cook is one of the best technicians I've ever met who seems to have a knack for diagnosing problems by phone or e-mail even before he sees your tractor. You won't be disappointed.

I tell this story because it seems every time I have dealings with KC-Canary, they pull out all the stops to do what it takes to please their customers. And I'd encourage any doubters out there or if you think distance is problematic, overlook these doubts and give these guys a chance. I learned today they deliver as far south as New York City and as far west as Buffalo and their client list is extensive (Home Depot and FBI are a couple examples).

In summing up, KC open house was an adventure in itself. Lunch was great....film on new JD product coming out was educational....updated product literature was plentiful and is always good to have....and the hundreds of people to interact with made for an interesting day overall.

....Bob

Sorry I missed you. I would have liked to meet the couple from Rockland Co as my parents lived there for about 15 years befor retiring up to Montgomery Co. Mark was every thing you and others said he would be I have confidence that he will answer any problem and that he made sure that I had all the important attachments before I left. I had to leave early as my son had to leave for Coxsakie. Cambridge is not that far away maybe some day I can visit you at your place.

You and other TBNers are always welcome to stop by my place if you're in the vicinity. Just let me know beforehand so I can be sure I'm home and are able to provide proper directions. Best of luck with the purchase of your new tractor. The projects will really get moving along now. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Hi Bob & the rest of K.C. Canary guys... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I brought my Father to K.C. Canary, and it was elbow to elbow rooms of people... tough to get introductions... but not tough to get into the chow line... /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Every time I turned around, Mark was going a mile-a-minute showing off the great Deere products to a multitude of people... I didn't want to break his flow... then I forgot to take home my K.C. Canary John Deere calendar... /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I agree... anyone seriously considering a JD within K.C. Canary's selling area... should take some time out to talk to them... for over 50 solid years... they have been treating people right... to earn your business... /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
