3-Point Hitch Kabota L48 lift rod size

Finally, always a John Deere guy- just purchased my 1st Kabota, an L48 w/ backhoe. The previous owner has never had the hoe off and he never realized that the dealer had cheated him/me out of the RH and LH lift rods that lift the 3 pt arms... Please... can anyone with an L 48 get me the measurements of these rods so that I can weld some up? Not sure if other models use the same length.

The lift rods are supposed to be stored on the left upright of the FEL. You pass them when getting on and off the tractor. They are easy to overlook.

The arms themselves are stored under the floorboard on each side of the frame. Make sure you have those also.

I'll try to remember to measure the lift rods tomorrow. They are about $70-$100 each. The adjustable ones are more expensive of course.

Edit: Just a thought - there is storage on the upright for two lift rods and the top link. The lift arms have a ball on the top and three holes on the lower section for adjustment when connecting the horizontal arm. It is standard for most tractors. Any rod might work that had the correct pin size.

The distance between the two storage pegs on the FEL should tell you the measurement between the top ball and one of the holes (can't recall which one). Anyway, you need more than just the length of the lift rod.

Thanks much for the input. Yes the rods are supposed to stored vertical next to the center link, but the paint on the mounting dowels wasn't even scratched, meaning the rods were never installed by the dealer. I do have the center link and the 2 arms.... I have a few extra adjustable center links in the shop that I was considering shortening and welding on a lower clevis for the right side, and making a solid one for the left. The measurements will surely help a lot...thanks again.

OK, here are photos to help you build your own.

The posts on the tractor are from the ball to the farthest most hole. That measures to 18.5" but you should check your securing posts on the tractor just to be sure. The other holes are in 1" increments.

(The photo shows it a little different but the tape measure is in front of the lift rod so there is a perspective issue.)

Thanks a lot! I checked with the dealer...LH $107, and RH $170!!! It looks as if the RH link is no more than a glorified center link, and the clevis steel thicknessis close to 5/16"??

Most of the Kubota clevises are 5/16"x 1 1/4". When I build them, I use 3/8"x 1 1/2". You might want to check back with your Kubota dealer, sometimes they have takeoffs and will sell them very reasonable. Could be worth the try just to get the ends. The actual lengths and clevises vary quite a bit from model size to model size though.

I知 in the same situation too. Can稚 find any after-market TPH for L48. Is it possible to use Agri-supply or Tractor Supply parts to make your own? I知 a newbie with tractors and don稚 want to screw it up.
