Kabota M4800 3 Pt lift range too low.

I hope someone can help me with this. I have a Kabota M4800 SU and the 3 point hitch at its lowest position is right on the floor. When I put a bush hog on I can just manage to lift it high enough to get it off the ground. I am pretty sure the range of lift from low to high is sufficient, or would be if I could only adjust it to start from a low of 10 or 12 inches off the ground.

There is a short rod attached to the tractor end of the left side lower lift arm. Slightly below this is a shaft coming out through the rear housing that looks like it will rotate and control something inside the housing. Attached to the visible end of this shaft at a 90 degree angle and pointing toward the front of the tractor is a second rod. These 2 rods are connected to each other with a pivot so that when the lower arm comes up rod #1 will rotate down pushing rod #2 down and rotating the shaft counter clockwise.

I wonder if this could be there to adjust the 途ange of lift from low to high. Rod #1 seems to be threaded with perhaps a threaded coupling and lock nut to vary the length of rod #1.

I am sure it took longer to write all this than it would have to crawl in there and try something but the whole assembly is very difficult to get to and I am afraid to mess with it until I know more about it.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

There should be some extra holes in the clevis portion of the lift links. These allow you to attach the lift arms higher in the link and thus offset the lift range upward. If they are now pinned using the lower hole set you will get at least a couple inches higher if you go to the second hole set. There may be 3 hole sets.

with engine running adjust rod #1 ( shorter I think) till you hear engine load up then back off a touch

Can you please post some pictures of your 3pt? Pictures can really help in getting some accurate assessments. ;)

Thanks much for the replys. This gives me some options to try. Will try to get some PIX posted. No too good with PIX and attachments.

Another thing I thought of is to find a pair of lift rods (or links with the clevis on one the end) and shorten them by 6 or 8 inches. I don't want to ruin my original ones if I can find some at a reasonable price to experiment with.

Thanks again - Andy

Yes, there are 3 sets of holes and the pins are in the top holes now.

Thanks

No, it does not have a draft control.

Thanks

Since you think the lift range is sufficient, shortening the lift links is a viable option as you said earlier. ... However, It could be that the top/rockershaft arms are installed in the wrong rotational position on the rockershaft. Often they are keyed and only have one setting. Maybe yours are not and can be slid off and repositioned on the spline.
