Hey Guys, (see attached picture)

Yes I did let it run out of fuel. My instrument panel is intermittent and evidently wasn稚 working yesterday.

I checked the water and oil before plowing, however I didn稚 manually check the fuel.

Need help with bleeding process. Per the attached photo, I loosened #1 and #2 and had my brother blow in the tank.

Some fuel ran through, so I tightened them back down and it wouldn稚 fire a lick.

Didn稚 think I needed to loosen the other numbered items, since I saw some fuel come out of 1 and 2, and not sure what item 7 is???

Do I need to go to each fuel line on top of the pistons and loosen them as well?

Thanks Much,
Kevin

Only loosen the lines going into at least 2 of the injectors. It may help to pump the manual primer #7. Prior to cranking, unscrew it and pump until you feel pressure build, then screw it back in. Pull out the compression release and crank until you have fuel leaking at the loosened lines at the injectors. Tighten them back up and crank with the compression release still pulled until you see some vapor coming out of the muffler. Push in the compression release and it should fire up. While you are there change the oil in the pump if it's been a while.

How's that beast been running? I recently put in a 600' geothermal loop with mine. Just over 600hrs on the clock.

Always best to work from tank to injectors. Air goes up, fuel goes down so working from bottom up is your second priority. Open #4 to purge the air that is now in the top of the filter housing. As Brad mentioned #7 is the manual plunger for the lift pump. Unscrew it and use it to help push fuel up and into the injector pump housing. If you loosen #2 you should get fuel out when you pump #7 the IP body has to be full of fuel to feed the 4 plungers of the IP to feed fuel up the hardlines to the 4 injectors.

The injectors fire hydraulically. Air in the hardlines act like a spring so the pressure from the IP cannot build high enough to pop the injector. Loosen the hardlines where they attach to the injectors and crank the engine till fuel comes out. Tighten those fittings and the engine should fire...

Hey Brad and Ron,

Thanks much for the tips/help. Since you guys told me what #7 was, my son (who works around diesel equipment in a quarry) told me to get on the tractor and crank it over. I pulled the compression release and started cranking, while he pumped #7. Within just a few cranks, it fired right up. Had to pump the throttle a bit to get her going smoothly, however was able to get back to plowing... :) The 554 has been doing fine over the years.
