SonnieP,
I am wondering about the last sentence there. Katrina has been declared the worst natural disaster in history, so I'm wondering how we (I live in Gulfport MS) were spared.
From What little TV coverage I have seen, it has been focused on the New Orleans area, but don't let that fool you. The MS Gulf Coast is destroyed. The cities of Waveland, Bay St. Louis, Pass Christian and Long Beach are over 70% destroyed. Both bridges on US 90 are destroyed (will not be usable for 2-4 years), US 90 through all Coastal cities is impassable, and will be for 1-2 years minimum. All but one of the casino barges either sank or broke loose from moorings, with one floating over a mile and setting down on top of a two story Holiday Inn. 90-95% of the historical buildings are gone, including Beauvoir, the last home of Jefferson Davis. Also, MS Power, the local power provider has issued a statement that said of 195,000 customers prior to the storm, 24,000+ are now slabs, and they did not have a count on how many residences were standing but were unable to recieve power because of damage. The storm surge from Katrina pushed cargo ships over 1/2 of a mile inland and set them down on apartment complexes. Keesler AFB, home of the hurricane hunters, has over $500,000,000
worth of damage.
Early estimates from he MS institute of timber inventory estimate a loss of 1.3 billion dollars of timber in MS alone. The poultry industry, Mississippi's largest agricultural commodity was devastated, so look for the price if chicken to go through the roof.

Sorry to get on a rant there, especially in a tractor forum, but my Mahindra 4110 is a great tractor.
