Kawasaki FD501 on a John Deere LX279. Need to remove the engine drive pulley and electric clutch from the engine shaft. Removed the bolt and D-spacer but they won't come off. Do I need a puller, I didn't want to ruin them? Also does anyone know where to get a good repair manual for this engine.

The clutch should slide off the shaft but they can be stubborn or corroded onto the shaft. Same with the transaxle drive pulley.

Kawasaki used to have a website but it no clue if still active or what is supported.

That can be a bugger. Sometimes they have to come off in pieces. Penetrant and an air hammer if you are lucky. One trick is to loosen the bolt and run the engine in hopes things that are out of balance enough will help shake it loose.
Are you replacing the traction belt or do you have more going on?

Engine making a knocking noise when shutting down. Trying to eliminate the clutch. I think it is the cam or timing gear. Will report by when I find out.
