2001 just done re-ring and bearing replacement.........Changed the break-in oil and the oil filter looked dry, ran it for abt 5 hrs no problem at all. Oil was so clean not sure if actually was no oil in it or just to clean to tell, drained oil completely and then filter came off very little oil when I removed from the mounting............I did thorough examination of the oil pump and used the shop manual for specs and was as should be, so question is, "can the oil filter not FILTER, but bypass somehow w/o oil in getting in center of filter ????
