Kawasaki Mule 3010 - UTV Stuck In Accelleration ??

This is a first for me and I have never had something like this happen with any of my equipment.

Yesterday I started my Mule and drove it a few hundred feet and when I tried to brake, it kept driving, I panicked and almost drove into a building, but I was able to turn the key and shut it off.

I picked it up with my skid steer and brought it into my shop, and was able to move it into neutral, but when I turn it on, it sounds like I am stepping on the pedal when I am not.

I followed the wire coming from the pedal and can see it engaging in and out when I step on the pedal, so it didn't come disconnected, but I have no idea where to go from this point on to try and solve this problem and prevent it from happening again.

Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks a lot.

Interesting, I do not have an answer but would like to know when you find out. My Polaris Ranger had something similar but problem was throttle cable got pinched and stayed at the throttle position it was at when I hit a rock that pushed the cable between it's retaining clip and the frame. In my case, the peddle had no influence on the engine rpm.

If it has a carb the throttle plate might be stuck open or something holding it open.

What year is it? Mine is a 2011 and Kawasaki has done some warranty work on the smog aspect of it. What would happen is that when starting it, the engine would rev up real high, then stay there for awhile. Once it idled down, it would idle real rough and sometimes surge. This doesn't sound like what happened to yours, but maybe it's related? The dealer said it was a common problem on all 2011 to 2013 model years.

It's a 2008. I was able to trace the gas pedal line to the back and when I press on it I can see something moving but I haven't been able to look to see what it controls yet. I am hoping that something is just stuck and I can get it fixed, otherwise I need to bring it to the dealer but I prefer to fix these things myself if possible!
