My bumper pull equipment trailer is not nearly big enough and I am ready to buy a new gooseneck 30 foot dovetail trailer. Looked at some used ones and by the time you replace the worn out tires, bad brakes, weld up the existing damage, and fix the wiring you are almost at the price of a new one. And don't start talking about missing paint and "surface" rust. I have looked at Big Tex (some welds looked good - some not so good), Diamond C (nice but not $4K nicer), and talked to a couple of other brand dealers and felt a little "dirty" afterwards. Our tractor dealer sells Kearney but only stocks bumper pull and low deck hauler style but said that they have a custom order coming in next week that I could look at (want a dual tandem pierced frame style). The welds looked nice on the ones they had, and I have had good luck with the dealer. Anyone have experience with recent Kearney trailers or better options in the Central Texas area?

I only ran my Big Tex trailer for about a year but it was a well made piece and I didn’t have any complaints.

Not exactly Central Texas but good people: Kearney Gooseneck Pull Trailers | Pearman Trailer Sales

Did you look at the Diamond C in Caldwell? They seem to order everything with the Blackwood floor.

.

I did look at Diamond C at the Caldwell dealer. Very nice guys but the Diamond C is about $3500 higher than the Kearney. I think if I was going to use the trailer every day I would look harder at the Diamond C, but I doubt I will use it twice a month. Paige Tractors is the Kearney Dealer and I have had very good luck with them. They said they sell about 100 Kearney trailers a year - mostly bumper pull equipment trailers and livestock trailers and they have good luck with them. They don't stock the big goosenecks because I don't think they have enough room - the old man is a bit of a junk farm equipment trader/collector. I like that because it helps keep my old junk equipment working. They are supposed to have a special order 30 footer in on Saturday, so I am going to go and check it out.

I know about Paige Tractors but haven’t been by there in a while. Please be sure to update us on what you wind up with.

You might also want to look at D&D Trailers in Seguin just for comparison. Their website is pretty good. Also Reid’s in Leander. They have LoadTrail.

Paige got the pre-sold Kearney gooseneck in and I went and looked at it (as well as some others). Like the other Kearney trailers they had the welds, paint and general design looked very nice. Looked like they actually cared. Only downside is they are at least four weeks out on being able to get one and nobody else has any in stock. While trying to figure out what to do I looked at a few other places and brands.

Traxx - the two that were on the lot in Bastrop had some ugly welds (not all of them), missing paint, and were already showing rust just sitting on the lot. The necks on them were also very low (I can walk under my Parker dump trailer neck with it sitting level) and the Traxx was a lot shorter than that. With the trailer sitting level it looked like there would only be about 4 inches of clearance over my tailgate. I know that the two would meet some time in the field loading hay and the Ford aluminum tailgate would not be the winnner.

Big Tex - trailers looked nice, decent welds, nice paint, no rust, and the adjustable rear suspension that they have now is pretty cool. Downside is no torque tube on the 27+5 dove tail trailers - you have to go quite a bit bigger than that to get it and a 32 foot overall trailer is long enough to deal with.

Longhorn - nicer welds than the Traxx but they did not interleave the deck planks so where they all joined they were all trying to pop up already. It also had some rust already.

Maxxd trailors are probably available in your area.

I think they are manufactured in Brookston, TX. North Texas near Paris. Pretty happy with mine so far. It is a dump bed so not apples to apples comparison but overall was my best choice and I looked at a LOT of trailors. Mine was bought for everyday use but price was still important.
