:(I have been working on the front part of our property with the tractor on & off for several months now. At first the plan was to clear a large enough area in the woods for the dogs to have plenty of room to run in. In the end an area about 150 X 250 was cleared of small trees & brush and cleaned up with the box blade.

Our driveway is about 10 feet higher than this area - the driveway was built up with fill when we constructed the house 20 years ago. Unfortunately there is no way to get heavy equipment / trucks into the front of the yard because of the slope of the driveway, septic system etc. So when I wanted to build a berm for some plantings in the front I needed a lot of fill. I ended up having 180 yds delivered - dropped off the edge of the driveway 18 yds at a time. I used the front loader to keep pushing it out & level things off. In the end I had a nice pile of material to load from not far from where I want to make the berm.

Today I finished moving the basic amount of fill to build up the berm. Next I need a few yds of topsoil & mulch. Then I can plant some Rhodadendroms & Azaleas on top.

Of course after clearing the front area the wife decides that the dogs should be fenced in the back :(

So I started clearing a path going down the hill in the back (our property has a pretty mean slope in the backyard. Actually got to plant a couple of fence posts with the PHD today - only snapped one shear bolt :)
The land where we are is typical New England gravel with a nice mix of potatoes. Here is a a pix of the first of 80 or so posts:

The next shot will give you an idea of the slope:

And the is the path into the woods I have to take. Its about 200 feet staright back and down, then turn 90 degrees to the left for another 200 or so feet then back up the hill.

Nice country! Looks like the ground is easy digging. Is that a Bush Hog PHD that you show in your pictures?

Nice tractor, property, and thread! I also live on a slope and it gets hairy at times. Looks like you might need to open up the path thru the woods, it's hard to distinguish?

Nice big projects with lots of tractor work with different impliments are fun. Looks like you have done a nice job on your property. I enjoyed your pictures.
We lived in Enfield, CT in the late 60's. My wife misses the longer growing season we had there.

To tell you the truth I don't know what it is . . . I picked it up used from a local tractor dealer. He had sold it to someone who apparently used it for 1 hole, maybe. The auger hardly had any paint scratched off. I was searching the web a couple of days ago to try to find it and the Bush Hog is close, but not quite it.

Now you hurt my feelings :) I have opened a path down into the woods. In the last pix, there it is. A couple of months ago I was clearing it with the fel when the tractor died a couple hundred feet into the woods :( It turned out to be the bleeder valve had opened - duh. It took me a while to figure that one out. The woods is pretty overgrown with small trees and the slope made that 1st pass quite the adventure.

Thanks to all for the kind words - This is really great R&R for my head. I enjoy getting out there & doing 'stuff'. Gordon we may have the longer growing season but you definately have the better motorcycle roads!

Kinda hard to see PHD pic from that far,but I enlarged screen.
To me that PHD looks just like mine. Mine is an International(World Agritech Corp.) not to be confused with I-Harvester.Made in Ohio.
If I'am wrong please accept my appologie in advance.

Looking good, ctgoldwing! Does this path lead down to a water feature? I almost think I see a hint of blue through the trees in the center.

Keep us updated with pics from your project.
