Helped my wife's 80+ year old aunt with a tree that had fallen on her neighbors lot. I used the Stihl, she used the Kobalt 40-volt electric chainsaw. She ran both batteries down. Said she didn't know when she had that much fun. I'm still having stamina problems from the COVID and that lady worked my tail end off. Ended the afternoon with my wife and I sitting on the ground watching her happily cut and carry chunks to a burn pile.

My mother was the same way into her nineties. My 75 year old sister and 60 year old sister-in-law are the same way too. Put them outside working in a garden, yard, or anything else and they will keep at it all day long. Sister has switched to battery powered outside tools because she had trouble cranking the gas powered ones.

I did send a video of the aunt cutting up parts of the tree to her daughters and got return texts chewing me out for "encouraging her". But I think they are really proud of their mother. This is the same lady who has babysat all of my grandkids. Not many today even know their aunts and uncles and mine have been babysat by a great-great-aunt.

I live in Arkansas, I know just what you mean. I knew them all too. It is a blessing. It really took me about three years to get over that sickness. I feel 100% now. Hang in there and push it every day.

That's how they get to be old. My mother will be 86 next month. She isn't as spry as you describe, she walks with a cane and constantly tells us about her aches and pains. Yet she won't stop, she knows if she relegates herself to a chair that will be the end.

This brings back memories of my dad and his sisters when it came to their mother. Grandma was in her 80's with 13 kids and the daughters decided that to extend her life she needed to change her diet. They took her in for allergy tests and discovered she was allergic to a number of things she did on a daily basis.
Every morning she got up and made a loaf of bread for whoever stopped by. She also made a pot of coffee by pouring rounds into boiling water and then straining out the grounds. Daily things she had done for 50+ years while she waited for people to drop by.
She had 60 grandchildren and well over 100 greats.
My dad was so mad at his sisters for telling their mother what to do to live her life fully.
