Key for D2350

Broke my key off in ignition switch and need a new one. Can start tractor with screwdriver but probably need the key to be on for oil pressure light and alternator. Help, please.

You've got options. The switch is pretty simple, any generic tractor ignition switch will work. They were expensive at $80 or so and i just used the automotive variety from NAPA when my switch failed. I did have to add an external spring loaded toggle for the glow plug circuit. Since all tractor keys seem to be the same within a given brand you could contact Valley Power for a possible replacement key - if there are no pieces left in your switch. You could also take the key switch or broken key to a lock smith and have the lock picked and a key ground or a key ground from your pieces.

Retrieving the broken key is rather simple.

Snap the end off of a coping saw blade and use it to retrieve the broken key.
The saw blade will then resemble a needle with multiple barbs or hooks.

From there any locksmith can make up a new key using your end as a template.

Thanks for the replies, ya'll. I put the key in and turned it back for glow plug (why, I don't know) and it broke off flush. I looked down and saw that I hadn't put the key in all the way and the big shoulder at the head of the key had not engaged. The tiny, keyed part couldn't take the pressure.

Had to grade the driveway, so I got a screwdriver and jumped from battery cable to solenoid hot and it cranked right up. Graded the driveway and went to try and remove broken piece and it had vibrated out somewhere on the driveway. I don't have any electrics hooked up besides the low oil pressure lite and the alternator. So once the starter motor is disengaged, there's no drain on battery. I'll just have to hook up the battery charger from time to time til I get a key. At least I don't have to try to fish the piece out.
