I had just charged my battery, started the tractor first go, then backed out of the shed
Silly-me misjudged the shuttle shift and put on the brakes while still in reverse gear, and stalled the engine
When I went to re-start ... nothing ... dead ... no panel lights even
Before I start pulling things apart, is there something obvious that I should be checking

The key-start has been playing up intermittently.
It sometimes would click, then on the next attemp it would fire up and start no problem
This was the reason I charged the battery, not knowing if it was a low voltage issue

Assuming the battery is not shot it could be bad connections, bad switch, etc. My first check is always big cables, especially where the ground attaches to the frame. Battery should have at least 12.6v. I would doubt it being the solenoid since you don't have lights.

I had a similar issue recently and it turned out to be a bad connection on the pto safety switch.

The pto safety issue was on a Yanmar 220d.

I had the starter fail on my Yanmar once and I removed the starter, bench tested it and it whirled up just as it should. I then started looking at cables. The first one I found was the + side at the battery terminal. It was corroded inside the rubber and much of the wire was eaten away. I had enough cable to affix on of the bolt on battery cable clamps after cutting away all the corrosion but it still wouldn't start. While tugging on the - lead to get it back on the battery after a thorough cleaning, the crimped on end at the starter just pulled out. Same issue corrosion inside the cable so I cleaned that up and crimped on another terminal end. Just for giggles, I pulled hard on the other end and the battery clamp end came off also so it got another bolt on battery post connection.
I have never seen positive AND negative cables corrode from inside on both ends like that, but they worked well until they didn't work any more.
Pull the starter and test it with jumper cables to make sure the starter bendix is kicking in when the starter motor turns (assuming it turns). If starter checks out, clean up the starter and lubricate the bendix with some graphite spray lube and reinstall. THEN, I would start on checking the battery cables at all points to make sure they are solidly connected.

Get yourself a volt/ohm meter and learn to use it.

OK, everything is working again.
The problem was in the junction / terminal strip on the way to the dash
I took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together
I can only assume it gets damp when it rains and moisture travels down the firewall ... there was a fair bit of rusty build up
I've now taped it over
I did first check from the battery for voltage and continuity

I've tried a few starts to see, and the old intermittent start problem seems to have gone as well
