Keyed shut down

Hi Everyone
I have an L2550 and the key no longer shuts the tractor down. The fuel solenoid works when voltage is directly applied and the ignition switch itself seems to test okay with an ohms meter. Harness wires and plugs also seem to look fine. It starts fine with the key but no voltage gets to the solenoid in any key position. Should I just try a new ignition switch for $17 dollars at Amazon?

Is yours the type that Kubota has were the power is applied to shutdown the engine?

My old F2000 is of that type. It has a controller that applies voltage to the solenoid for a few seconds when the key is switched off to stop the engine, after it times out the solenoid is released to be ready to start again.

This is backwards to the more common energize to run solenoid. With it being energize to stop.

Yes there is a timer relay however it's too complicated for me in the wiring diagram and also the relay is discontinued according to the Kubota web site
It's such a good machine and a shame if parts are discontinued

There are 2 fuses involved in the shutdown. Have you checked the fuses? There's a WorkShop Manual which includes the schematic at www.KubotaBooks.com.

I'd bet you can match the relay to something at Digikey, etc. Get the number off the relay and search that.
Or just wire a switch to the solenoid to shut it down. Momentary push button would be my choice, hold until stopped then release. Not hard to spec and use a timer relay if you prefer.

Yes the 10 amp fuse to the far right was blown so we thought we fixed it but replacing that only fixed the guages lights. the other 3 fuses were good.

I've been using the manual fuel shut off to kill the engine but you have to remember to shut the key also to kill the gauge lights and everything else

Is the timer on the right front of the engine that looks like a mechanical voltage regulator with points?

So it works in the old school manner but not with the key.
I was going to suggest a momentary push button to apply power to the solinoid to shut down the engine but that wouldn't help much in that case as you would still need to turn the key off.

However you could replace the controller with a simple off delay relay,
