I came across this video made by flash flood chasers. I didn't know such an animal existed. But I guess the entertainment options are limited in the southern Utah canyon country. It looks pretty intense. I'm betting these guys ran with scissors when they were kids.

Very cool how the material just rolls like laying down a carpet. Thanks for sharing

I love the look on the guy's face after it rolls through. He is stoked.

I guess it is safer than chasing twisters. At least the flash flood will stick to the lowest ground. I mean, you don't have to get down in the riverbed with it unless you want to. With a twister, you don't know you're too close until you are too close.

I just came across this video of a underwater sinkhole forming. This is pretty strange looking too.

I guess by the floating boom, and the fact some one is standing there with a camera, they were expecting this to happen.

I remember an entire legal company going on an "adventure" outing to go tubing down a river. Unfortunately for them, there was a downpour while they were in the canyon and a flash flood occurred through a tributary and it killed everyone in the party. Wiped out the entire legal company. I think the "rules" regarding weather got tightened up a little since then, but even in Switzerland people have been wiped out by calving glaciers creating a giant wave that goes racing down the canyon. It seems these guys had scouted their locations and knew whats up, but a tourist in the same spot may not be so lucky.

On July 31, 1976, there was a bad flash flood near Loveland Co. My sister was living in Colorado Springs at the time, and had been in the mountains that day. It killed 143 folks, many of them at a campground. It was pretty scary until we heard from her.
