KiNG KUTTER 60" ROTARY HARROW + KUBOTA B3300SU TRACTOR/LOADER

Photo #1 I purchased this 60" King Kutter Rotary Harrow from Everything Attachments, Newton, N.C., during July 2012. It was purchased new-old-stock at reduced price of $799, delivered. The paint is faded but all important pivot bearings are perfect.

Photo #2 After loading on the the 3-Pt. hitch harrow is adjusted as follows: Lower harrow RIGHT arc by lengthening right threaded lifting rod until spikes 1-2" into the dirt. LEFT arc spikes should be slightly ABOVE dirt.

Fore and aft adjustment via top link is less cut and dried. Most often front arc is adjusted so spikes enter dirt about 1-1/2" to move dirt to right and pull weeds. Rear arc is 1-1/2" above dirt so loose material can pass under. Rotary harrow will occasionally windrow accumulated trash. See photos #3-#4-#5.

For final smoothing of a seed bed front arc is set a 3/4" higher than rear. Therefore front arc smooths lumps initially, followed by a second smoothing by rear arc, which is slightly lower than front arc. Harrow nearly level left-to-right.

#3 Harrowing residential circle before seeding wildflowers. Dirt is pushed away from curved sidewalk toward center. Leave a little slack in check chains/stabilizers.

#4 Renewing fire break along fence. Dirt has accumulated along fence through annual ag operations. (Peanuts Summer/Fall 2012) Rotary harrow moves dirt forward and to right, away from fence.

#5 Smoothing rough tractor track along curb. Dirt moved away from curb. (Observe Lime Rock chunks.)

Rotary Harrows are often used to groom horse arenas. Harrow will move dirt away from fence and grandstand lines, pull weeds and help dry arena top layer.

Photo #6 Rotary harrow will pull nefarious roots out of top 3" of soil. When harrow is lifted trash mostly falls to the ground.

I prefer to rotary harrow, pile with Ratchet Rake on bucket, then burn native grape vine roots, multiflora rose bulbs and Smilax corms. Chopping same with a disc may result in thousands of volunteers.

Kubota B3300SU = 33-hp / 1,900 pounds / 4-WD.
Changing drop of rotary harrow while operating via "Quarter Inching Valve" on Kubota B Series, is useful.​

Use the heck out of my round harrrow in the spruce seedlings. Harrows dirt away from seedlings so not to bury them in a burm windrow of dirt. Just agressive enough to pull most weeds and leave a smooth finish.

Can also offset the harrow to reach under bigger trees to help control insects, weeds and keep a clean look.

Had to replace the bearings in mine already also. The make of my round harrow 'rankin' is a little heavier looking than yours, mine having a dexter wheel hub and weld-on tines that I hard faced when had the harrow apart doing the bearings.

Florida woodland trail grooming photos from today.

Trail surface first chopped with Howse 600 pound disc harrow, notched discs fore and aft.

ETA Cultipacker was run over it several times.

King Kutter Rotary Harrow adjusted for fine smoothing; front 1/2" higher than rear. Harrow removed crown, smoothed surface.

Result: Hard packed dirt base, 1-1/2" soft dirt on surface, all trash removed. Will firm after a rain.

A good exercise path for Seniors in our community, easy on the knees, minimal trash to trip over.

Trail crosses several deer food plots.
