If you had it down to those two used ones and all things model wise are about equal which would you chose? Are they about equal in quality and parts availability?

These both would be the lighter duty entry level models.

I tend to sort of lean to the Land Pride for some reason I just cannot recall.

Well... thats what I was thinking.

What might make it easier is that the KK is probably not equal in condition now. I went and visited it today. Needs new belt, tension spring broken. Both Lift pins bent up slightly, safety shroud missing from drive shaft. Repaint. Pins holding Wheel assembly's all replaced with bolts and nuts. Otherwise it is functional and blades are decent shape and could be put back into shape with a hundred and a half or so bucks. Cosmetics aside.

Ill be looking up close at the landpride Monday but I already know its in better cosmetic shape and has as all its correct parts. I think its going to be a two hundred $ more in the end but won't be a project.

I find a lot of implements built by 3rd parties of various sorts, function identically with different approaches. On a particular unit you may think that the designer is skimping on this or that (to meet pricing requirements) only to learn that he/she worked around the function, replaced it with something better, or put the function elsewhere. Case in point are 3 pt tillers in particular and light duty 3 pt rotary mowers.

My vote would be for Landpride.

I bought Land Pride over King Kutter. Land Pride was more expensive but to me the difference in quality, parts availability, and service justified the expense. Land Pride had an alliance with Kubota and was bought by Kubota in 2016 so parts and service were readily available and should be for a long time. Around me King Kutter is sold by retailers such as Atwoods or Tractor Supply which don't stock parts or do service. King Kutter parts are available online from King Kutter.

In this area King Kutter is sold by Northern Tool. And a new 60" is selling for $1600. The new 60" Land Pride I see listed as low as $2000. So yes the price is higher for a land pride.

At this time it looks like Land Pride is ahead of King Kutter as far as the condition and price of used ones available.

I have one other land pride implement. A Box Blade. And it was a bit beefier than its competition when I was comparing in the same price range. Wasn't sure that would transfer into anything else. In this case its a bit more complicated by the fact I am also comparing used and whats available.

Sounds like the condition of the kk makes the difference. You save $50 but have to put time into it. Is the $50 savings worth the time you would have into the repairs you need?

Exactly.

As it so far is turning out. At first I was trying to justify the difference. But since only I could access condition I couldn't ask you guys to help with that. But so far its made up a lot of difference. Plus... even if I did get it cheaper and did put that into it, it would never end up in the same condition. I couldn't turn a sows ear into a silk purse. But I could turn it into a sack. But why? And whats my time worth on top of that?

Anyway... Ill go see the land Pride tomorrow and go prepared to buy. Unless something in person is significantly different its the better deal anyway.

Ill post back after my trip with pictures. Or with reasons why I rejected it.

I have a LandPride BB that is a beast.

I have a KK rototiller that is a beast.

I'm not brand conscious. I'm condition and durability conscious. :)

Yep.... I'm all over the place

Bush Hog brand Rotory cutter, Farm King rototiller, Tiger Attachments Forks, Land Pride BB. So anything rather durable with good access to parts but yet also reasonably priced is my game.

In this case because its used its a crap shoot. And condition vs price is going to probably win out. Brand is becoming secondary to condition affecting price.

Well... the Land Pride was indeed mint. Not sure what year it is but it was with a tractor it had started out life with and that thing had 145 hours on it. I would guess this thing is no more than 2 years old and was stored under cover most of its life. It was sold new with the tractor we are fairly certain. The Grooming mower itself probably had been used once or twice. Had grass under it but what appeared to be almost unused stock blades. Belt is fantastic. Paint all nice and very few chips or scratches. Wheels as if never rolled. Manual still tucked away in the tube. Very mint unit.

Final price negotiated $1200. Not at all bad for condition. Best used unit I looked at by far.

Only thing is I snapped one of the grease fittings on one of the wheel assembly's offloading it by myself! Arg... dang it. Well... not that big a deal because you can grease these thing just by pulling them out and wiping some one. Ill fix it some day.

Had a bit of a struggle getting the shaft on to the PTO. First time with one of these spring/Ball bearing/ collars. Finally figured it out that everything has to be in just the right moon phase! Wore me out till I finally got the whole thing lined up like it wanted it to be.

But she cuts pretty darn good. I just mowed some places I normally mow. No new ground.

Can anyone read manufacturing dates from serial numbers?

That was a great find and a great brand. I looked at an older one but went with the Bush Hog RDTH84 which was newer. It had new blades, old belt lasted several hours using it more like a rough cut bush hog. The bushings in the gauge wheel spindles are getting thin so they need replacing. They were about $100 OEM as was the belt so I am in for $1450 now and am happy with it. I bought it from the dealer that sold it new so on CL/private sale low ball price. That is about $2000 less than new locally and with all new major wear points.

Well... didn't take long to get an answer

"Philip

That unit was built on 9/30/2014. I am sorry to tell you that warranty only goes to the original purchaser.
Thanks

Service Coordinator"

This thing is a time capsule for a late year 2014. I wouldn't have guessed older than maybe 2016.

That was a good find.

Those 2 are just about equal for parts availability. Both have cheap Chinese gearboxes, both use blades made by the same company. If one is significantly heavier that the other, go with it for durability sake. Otherwise, 6 of 1......
