KingKutter Finish Mower

We bought a 72" KingKutter Finish Mower for our Kubota 175 tractor. Now we're second guessing ourselves about whether or not it will work.

How many hp does that tractor have? I would guess and say a 6ft finish mower needs about a 25 hp tractor,[might work with 20 but it all depends on pto hp].But than again it depends on how thick tall the grass is too.

It has a 17hp engine.

I would say your tractor is a bit undersized for that mower. I pull a woods 6ft finish mower with my JD820, I think it's 27hp at the pto, which seems like more than enough, but I don't think a 17 hp engine is going to give you the power you need. My bx 1500 (15hp) is only rated 10.6hp at the pto. I wouldn't dream of pulling the woods with that.

I checked the specs on the woods mower Woods Equipment Company - RM series 60? to 72?

It calls for 16 to 35 tractor HP, so I guess you're just inside the spec, but I still doubt that you will be happy with the performance.

I don't know of any laws requiring that you use the full width of the mower every time you cut. If it bogs the machine too much, just take a narrower bite each pass.
