KingKutter Finish Mower

I have a chance to buy a 7' KingKutter finish mower, model SFM-84. It's in excellent condition and he's asking $1000. I think I can get it for $900. This seems like an excellent deal to me...any advice on the mower or the price? Anyone know what this costs new?

Tony, I have been pricing Woods and Landpride 84" mowers, and even with a reasonable discount they cost $2000-$2300 new. I dont personally have any experience with King Kutter. I can say that most of the experiences I have read about them here have been favorable, to my recollection.

I think it sounds like a very good deal, assuming you can use a mower that big on your property and with your tractor.

I thought they were a little pricey in that size. Even if the KingKutter is less expensive, it's got to be pushing $2000. I have an L3600 which is about 40 hp, 31 at the PTO. I guess it should handle it fine...do you agree? I have 2-3 acres of field that are in view of the house but I never finish cut them before, only with a bush hog. There are no rocks or stumps, only orchard grass and the usual weeds. Actually, my neighbors cut them for hay up until a few years ago. I wouldn't mind having them look better and I guess this mower would help that, and get through them quickly!. Thanks for your response.

I paid nearly $1400. for a new 7' KK finish mower from a farm supply who is usually a ways under retail. Don't sound like too bad a price. Watch out for the inflatable tires rubbing on the support arms and causing air leaks/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I thought for sure it would be higher than that but maybe you did get a good price. I'm curious as to what some of the others have paid. Thanks for the tip on the tires!

The regular prices at Quality Farm & Family/Central Tractor has been $899/5' KK, $999./6' KK, and $1499/7' KK finish mower. They normally stock 5/6', and special order 7'.

I think you have an excellent price for the 7'...

Thanks loads John. That's what I wanted to know. I didn't want to wait until Monday to call around and find out...it might be gone by then. I think it's a good deal and I'm going to offer him $900 for it tomorrow. Oh, uh, and, er, don't tell my wife!
