I have been looking at the 60" King Kutter tiller to go behind my Kubota 3010 HST with R4 Industrial tires. The outside measurement of the tires is around 66". Wanted to be sure it would cover the tracks and my 24 HP pto would handle it. If anyone has this setup, I would appreciate some help.

Thanks in advance,

TOM

Hi,

I have a 3010 DT with the R4 tires. I have a 70 inch tiller, which covers the tread tracks. I don't think a 60 inch tiller would do that. The manual doesn't recommend more than a 60 inch tiller for the 3010, but I havn't had any trouble. The engine seems to be working pretty hard in tough spots. I have heavy clay soil. I tilled sod, but it takes a couple of passes to get all the grass worked up. I tilled full height winter wheat ground cover without mowing first. The tiller didn't clog and the tractor didn't lug, but the trash balled up on the deepth skids and caused uneven tilling.

Lifting the larger tiller doesn't cause any problems. The HST model has a little less PTO HP than the DT (Manual Trans) so you might have to till shallower in tough or hard soil and till more than once with a wider tiller. But that is a good trade-off against leaving tread marks. You could also consider an offset tiller which would leave tread marks on only on side, but they may cost as much or more than a 70 inch tiller.

Look at the befco tillers, very nice tiller, they have a telescoping shaft to offset to one side to cover wheel track on one side. just loosen a few bolt and it slides over very easiley.

I have a NH TC35D with R4's that has an outside measurement of about 68". The King Kutter 60" tiller covers the tracks completely. As for your pto hp, I think it is probably enough, but the weight of the tiller might be something you might want to check on.
