Kioti 2385 or Rhino 85 ?

I am looking to buy a backhoe. These two models appear to be the best frame mount choices I have found and are close in price to one another.

I know nothing about hoes. Could I get a review or two on each of these or any other suggestions. Other brands or used are not ruled out either.

I recently bought a Kioti 2385 (and for me too, the other choice was the Rhino 85) for my DK45. I choose it mainly because I could get 0% financing on it for 3 years. I cannot comment on the quality of the Rhino, but the Kioti seems to be great. I was concerned about getting it on and off, but after doing it a few times, it's only a 5-10 minute job.

The only recommendation I would make would be to have your hydraulics hook up to the rear remotes instead of underneath the tractor (I did the underneath, and wish that I hadn't - it would be too easy to catch the lines and tear them off0.

Either BH is a good. I still prefer the Rhino 85 mainly because this is who use to make the Kiotis and I've never had any problems with them. But I hear the Kioti BH is also a good one.

rtimgray - On your hydraulic hook-up are your lines ran thru the frame rail on the subframe? We do all of ours this way to prevent them from getting caught on anything.

Is there any difference in the way the controls work between these hoes, for better or worse? Bradco advertises the swing is cushioned. Is that something included on either of these hoes or is it even worth consideration? Are wear items on this less than common tool worth considering American made over Korean made (like it mattered when I bought the tractor /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif) for availability?

I think the control setup is pretty much the same. So far I think I really perfer the Rhino hoe, mainly because I have never had any problems with them. I have alot of contractors who use them too, so I know they take alot of use.

I was told by a Kioti representative that they changed MFG for the backhoe because they could get it made a lot cheaper than Rhino. The persons I've talked to and read about say the Rhino is excellent. John

Thank you all for your information and advice. Since price difference is not significant I think I will lean toward the Rhino. One last consideration I thought of is that this will likely be a once in 25 years purchase. I will likely change tractors a couple times in that time span. My understanding is that backhoe frame mounts are not standardized like 3 point mounts. I believe Rhino will be more likely to have mounts available for this hoe to mount on other manufacturers tractors over the years.

Well, some of them can be rather specific to a tractor, but you should be able to find a subframe mount for many other tractors for that hoe. As many of them connect up with the loader frame, there can be some speciality in the subframes. John
