John Deere 1050
Long time lurker, first time poster.

Currently have a John Deere 1050 and there are some things I really like about it. (Built solid, simple, reliable, etc.) It痴 been a great first tractor, but I really need something with a loader and a more comfortable seat haha. Ideally I壇 like something that had mfwd, loader, shuttle (no hst) 45hp, something I could install a third function on and run a grapple and between 15-20k.

I went and looked at a kioti dk4510. They look nice and if I get a trade in with low hours,it would check all those boxes, minus the 3rd function and grapple. Plus being able to finance helps. Still some part of me would like to find something that was older and didn稚 have as much plastic on it. I really like how simple my 1050 is.

I bush hog 40 acres and maintain about a 1/4 mile gravel drive way. Got a lot of brush piles I壇 like to not move by hand and a big rock pile, I壇 like to start moving away from the house.

Interested in any advice and 1990+ tractor models that you guys recommend, that could check those boxes. Appreciate any help.

Are you now mowing 40 acres with the 3,000 pound bare weight/ 37 horsepower Deere with a five or six foot wide Rotary Mower?

I hate to mow, although I do my fair share. Too much pollen, too much dirt, too many bees.

Calculate how much time you are willing pass mowing:

Mowing Calcuator | How many acres can I mow in an hour

Do you cut the 40 acres with the jd now? if you do how much time does it take? Thats a lot of cutting,I would be wanting at least an 8 ft cutter or a small batwing. 55 or 60 hp tractor to start. There are some good used ones out there in that size especially since you dont want an hst.

Well that痴 half true. Live on same property as dad. He痴 got a L35 kubota. We both cut when we have time. Certain areas we cut more then others. But everything gets cut at least 3x. Some stuff more. We both have 5ft rotary cutters. I壇 be happy with a 6ft.

To operate a six foot Rotary Cutter through moderate length grass you need a tractor with 45-horsepower gross.

That makes sense. Dk4510 is a little smaller. What do you recommend? 20k is pretty much limit I could spend. I壇 be okay sticking with 5ft rotary cutter if that meant staying on budget.

There is nothing wrong with the Kioti brand.

You do not mention how old the DK is, but I think you will find that the DK4510 a real workhorse model without a lot of bells and whistles to break. It does have the important features such as bolted center rear tires, split brakes, good lift capacity front and rear, weight, clearance, independent PTO with PTO cruise. The only thing I wish it had is a three range 12F12R gearbox rather than two range 8/8. I am such a newbie to even write to someone who sounds like they where born on a tractor, but I am very happy with my 2016 DK5010HS. I expect it to be running fine for another 20 years.

Awesome. I appreciate you your opinion, as someone who has one. Makes me feel better about it.
