I was told kioti had stronger welded frame compaired to lets say kubota bolted frame. This being in the subcompact series.

Dewave was just funnin' you as he has a CK20HST as I do. I compared the frames and side by side it certainly LOOKS like it's stronger. I honestly am not sure which is stronger, but I decided on the Kioti. The iron frame was heavier and appears beefier than the Kubota. If you want to compare, however, compare compacts, not subcompacts as the CK20 is considered a compact. Kubotas makes some wonderful equipment, but I like the nearly all steel construction of the Kioti over the extensive use of plastics that some others use. I like the extra weight which helps me use the horsepower of the CK to full advantage. John

It should have a heavier frame as it is a heavier tractor. Is it needed on it? Must be other wise they wouldn't have made it so heavy too! Lighter is nimble!

Then you WANT a heavier tractor. The CK20HST is quite nimble at 1993 pounds, plus the loader etc. Great pulling power for only 21HP. John

Having looked at the "Big 3" and the Kioti, I get the impression that the small compact tractors from the "Big 3" are more geared toward large estate owners. The Kioti is geared toward someone who want's to move dirt and pull things.

Both have their advantages. Any ground engaging implements (except maybe a tiller) are going to be better with a heavier tractor. Weight = Traction.

However, I sure wouldn't want an overly heavy tractor for repeated mowing over my septic tank and septic field. Therefore, I really wouldn't want a Kioti to mow with in my situation.

I think it's very important that you know what your main objectives to accomplish with your tractor are. From there, you can decide on whether you want light and nimble or heavy and powerful.

In looking at all of the options out there, I am personally having a very hard time finding a happy medium /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Guess i'll just need to get a workhorse AND a zero-turn for mowing!!!

I presume that must be model specific. I have metal fenders, hood, etc.

To summarize some reasons listed (rationalized) for lighter tractors.

Other tractors are not made move dirt or pull things
Too heavy for your mowing needs.
Worried it will break your 6" septic tank lid
Traction is too good.
It's not green weight
It's not kubota weight
Tractors should be nimble

Thanx guys you've opened my eyes

OR

You guys crack me up!!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Always joking! Nimble tractors!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

C'mon try something like compacting the soil/lawn, now that I would buy.

Yea, I got a kick out of that nimble comment to. When I was shopping the Kioti dealer was too far for consideration. The Mahindra 2015 which was a near twin of the CK20H (speck wise) turned sharper than the BX2230 or JD2210 and that was compairing sub-cuts to cuts. Go figure.
