08 Kioti CK 20 S Hydro
Hi everyone, I am a newbee to the this sight. I just bought a new 2008 Kioti CK 20s Hydro with a FEL KL 120 and KMR03 60" finish mower last week. My son has a Kioti and is very pleased with it so I thought I would get one also. I did not know if I should get the stick or hydro and this sight made up my mind, nearly everyone said get the hydro and I love it. I do have a question maybe someone can answer. When I tried out the mower the other day I pushed in the clutch and put the pto in gear and begain mowing ,workes great .However when I pushed in the clutch to disengage the pto it sounds like all heck is tearing up.I called the dealer and he said that is normal. My son has the stick and he says he can't remember his making that kind of noise is this something to do with the Hydro? Has anyone had the same sounds when stopping the pto or is there something I need to do different. Thanks for any help .

Mine is quiet. I just use the clutch like you say.

Hi also have the CK20HST and mine makes all kinds of noise. I just engage and disengage the PTO quickly. Not much noise that way.

That noise is the over-running clutch in the transmission. It keeps the momentum of a rear implement from running the tractor transmission. Nothing to worry about, the clicking is the over-running ratchet. It's just doing it's job.

Hope that helps

I don't use the clutch to disengage the rear PTO. The only attachment I use is a rear mount snow blower with PTO drive shaft and when I want to stop it, I just pull the lever into the off position. It's smooth and easy, I don't need to stop and clutch, and there is no over-running clutch ratcheting. I guess if I needed to stop the propeller quicker, I would push in the clutch so the device would slow it down quicker but that has not happened yet.

That's very interesting. I also have a CK20 with a rear finish mower that causes this noise. I say "causes" because I also have a rear mounted bushhog and tiller as well and neather cause this sound to happen. All are run from the rear pto. Strange.
