Hello, new to this site and i am hoping someone could PLEASE help me with an issue im having with my tractor that i just bought a month ago. it ran fine up until just recently. Now its stuck in the corner of my garage because i cant get it to back up...... it seems to go forward just fine ( thus the reason why its stuck in the corner of my garage) . it has plenty of fluid, actually more than enough! i am not very well versed on hydrostatic transmissions, but i do consider myself somewhat mechanically inclined. just wondering if someone else has had an issue such as this? thank you for any insight provided....

Is the brake off ??? Other than that nothing comes to mind sorry for lack of suggestions.

Have you checked the linkage from the pedal? Or maybe debris stoping pedal travel.

Does the back end part of the tredal move down when you push on the rear from it's neutral position? As mentioned, linkage under right floor board to trans case stuck/bent. I believe that tredal design hasn't changed on the CK25,27,30, or 35hst and members have reported, mine happed too, the tredal top bends, flattens out, so the rear of the tredal will hit the floorboard without much movement for reverse. From underneath the right side, you can see the approx. one inch shaft going into the trans that works the hydro. It should rotate both directions from neutral when you move the tredal. The tractor doesn't have to be running to do/see this. Considering how a hydro trans works, I can't imagine it's the trans if it goes forward and was fine in reverse before.

Does it sound like its under a load when the treadle is depressed in reverse, it should sound similar as to when going forward? Is the resistance to depressing the treadle the same in forward or reverse? Try all ranges yet?

i agree with all above comments that some type of linkage problem is most likely. If that is not the case, a stuck relief valve or neutral valve will do this. There is one of each for forward and reverse directions. If an HST will drive on direction and not the other, it is not an internal failure in the pump/motor set.

thank you all for your time and input on this subject. it ended up being a bent tredle (imo...a bad design) . I think that the linkage needs some form of adjustment though , cause it seems to move VERY SLOWLY in all ranges, especially reverse, painfully slow i might add. thank you very much!

Check to see if the cruise control is on--the lever near the parking brake. I had a similar issue and it was the cruise control.
