I'm no expert by any means, but it sounds to me that the repair shop just bled your lines and started your tractor. If air was in your lines, it would take a fair amount of cranking to remove for tractor to fire. I too would ask for itemized bill from repair shop.

Had a rod stick in one of my injector pumps after I had it rebuilt the injection service recommended stanadine
additive for lubricity and cetain . I've been using it for a couple yrs. not sure if it's helping but it has good ratings and not hurting.

Better safe than sorry.

I appreciate the feedback

Here's some more. Fuel additive might give some peace of mind, but possibly more important is to make sure your fuel supplier is selling you top grade clean diesel. Where do you get your fuel from currently?
I too wonder about the diagnosis of the IP and the necessity of it's repair(s). If the engine hadn't been cranked long enough to bleed off any air, and then supply fuel to the IP, how does one jump to the conclusion the IP is faulty?:confused2: Seems fishy to me....

Just to clarify, I spent an hour on the phone with the Dealer while I was at the tractor prior to taking it in to them. I had jumper cables hooked up to my car so that the tractor battery would have sufficient juice and I proceeded to empty and fill the fuel filter resevoir sevewral times. Additionally, during that time, we opened and closed the air release bolt 15 or 20 times in an effort to ensure that any air was purged from the system. Additionally, I called the Diesel Repair shop who rebuilt the Injection Pump (as a sublet from my Dealer) and I asked them if there was anything that I could have done to avoid the problem having occurred and what I could do to avoid it in the future (such as using a fuel additive)? He said that he won't disuade anyone from using a fuel additive, but in this instance, it would not have made a difference. The Injection Pump had to be rebuilt primarily because the "o" rings wore out. I referenced that I only had 197 hours on the machine and he he said that it was more of an issue with age (tractor will be 7 years old in 3 months) rather than an issue of hours. It all made sense to me. I have no regrets that I exhausted the options that I had. I am handy, but not a mechanic. There wasn't much more that I was going to be able to do and I don't feel that I was swindled nor mislead by either the Dealership nor the Diesel Repair shop. Both have good reputations in the community and are long time (2nd generation each) operations. It might not have been the absolute cheapest resolution to my problem, but I got my tractor back and running before the weekend and I was back to my projects when I needed to be and wanted to be. I am sure I could have gotten it done cheaper if I wanted to shop it around to a variety of backyard mechanics, but at this stage of my life, I won't beat myself up for not finding the absolute cheapest resolution to the problem.
