I didn't see these two compared. I am about to buy one of the two w/ a 72" mmm. 3 questions:

1. Does any one have the 72" mower on either of these and does it give a good cut and mow through heavy grass well or does it bog down. I don't want too much deck for the motor.

2. Is the Mitsubishi or the Daedong motor better

3. I live in Ohio and received an estimate of $14,637 including tax. for a Mahindra 2615 HST w/ 72" mmm. Is that a decent price.

Seems like a good price for the Mahindra with the MMM. I don't know anyone who has the MMM on the CK25 so I can't address that. Both of these companies are good producers, but the advantage of the Kioti to me is that Kioti makes all of it's tractors in their factory, where the Mahindra is OEM by several companies, and you'll genearlly find that parts are less expensive from companies who make all their own as Kioti and Kubota do.
Both of the engines enjoy excellent reputations, with Daedong a huge producer of diesels for the ship building industry and production of their first water-cooled diesel in 1949.
I've never read any complaints on either engine. John

I have a 2615 Gear and run a 5 FT rotary cutter with it. It slows down on really thick tall stuff but nothing that I wouldn't expect.

The 2615 is made entirely by Mitsubishi and was taken over by Mahindra from Cub Cadet a couple of years ago. The 2615 is the equivalent to a Cub Cadet 7265. Your price seems pretty close to mine (mine was a $1000 less for gear tranny).

I've had my 2615 since July and have been very happy with it.

Maybe my statement wasn't all that clear. Mahindra, an Indian company has other companies such as Mitsubishi, make tractors for them, and make some of their own using other's engines.
Some Mahindras have Daedong engines in them as well. John

Thanks both of you...

I was told by a Kioti dealer that he has heard of some problems with the MMM on compact tractors. particularly the 72" mowers. Either of you heard of any problems?

Is your 5' cutter a MMM or RMM.

I didn't know some Mahindras had Daedong engines. I knew some Farmtracs did (or am I backwards?). Which models have the Daedong engine? A relative has the 26 hp Cub Cadet variant. It is a nice tractor.

A rotary cutter and a finish mower are different animals. Rotary cutters are sometimes referred to as 'brush hogs' in my area, they're designed to mow scrub brush and small saplings. Generally (and I hate to use that word, but...) a rotary cutter will require more hp to run than a finish mower of the same width. I use a 5 foot RMM on my tractor with good results, but would be limited to a 4 foot rotary cutter.

You might want to consider the Mahindra 3015 instead of the 2615. Its basically the same tractor with more hp, although it is around 150# heavier. I'm not too familiar with the new CK25 and CK30, but it might be a similar case--same basic size but with more power. The Kioti guys would know more about those.

Of course, a jump up would also set you back a few bucks more. /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

RickO . . . In the midwest, many folks have very lush grass, it is a generalization, but it is fairly safe to say that to run a 72" finish mower you probably want a tractor that is about 30hp.

I spend a lot of time in Florida and I'm sure with what they call grass, a mid-20s HP tractor could handle a 72" mower. I also spend a lot of time in upstate NY and their lawns are often sparce and thin compared to what I see across the midwest (USDA zones 5, 6 & 7) and up there a 72" mower would probably work well too. But if you are in Ohio and if your lawn is composed of fairly think Kentucky Blue grass or some of the fescues, then I would suggest you stick with a 60" mower deck if your tractor choices have HP ratings hovering around 25hp. Even then, you will find that it will bog down in the clover.

As TBrown has also been mentioned, a rotary cutter (bush hog/brush hog/slasher/etc) requires more HP than a finish mower. A mid-20s HP tractor would be best with about a 48" rotary cutter.

Thanks folks...
Your info has helped me with my decision. I won't put a 72" deck on unless I go to the 30HP tractor. I hate an underpowered setup.

JayC,
I think the 270 and 330 DTC FarmTracs use DaeDong engines also the 3510 and 4110 Mahindra's.
