Hi,
Kioti CK3010 drove over a stick. It snagged on the front axle which drove it up into the unguarded out of sight radiator hose. This all happens out of sight and out of sound with the bucket arms obscuring the action and slasher noise covering the sound. Sooo motor overheated and I am being quoted 1/2 the price of the tractor to repair it. Has anyone looked into getting a "short" engine out of Kioti? My dealer can only quote on a whole engine. By "short" I mean the block, head and sump assembly without the fuel pump, air intake, starter motor and exhaust. Better still does anyone have any experience with how to purchase direct from Korea without the humungous markup's necessary to run a business in the West? Cheers Geriatric

Welcome to TBN from northern Ontario, Canada. I have no idea about your engine problem. But I do know that shipping and profit for the dealer has a lot to do with the prices.

I'd first take it to a tractor mechanic and have them break it down and figure out what really needs to be replaced, and then go from there. If you want a short block and it's not in the dealers parts catalog they probably cannot get it from Daedong, and would have to build it from parts.

Thanks for responses. To give a better idea of the problem the dealer has pulled the head off and says the bore is scored and will need a rebore and oversize pistons fitted. This will cost around $US9,000. A new whole engine will cost about $US7,200 with fuel pump, starter etc. I have done a little bit with petrol engines before and am thinking I'd be better to tackle it myself?? Does anyone know a good source for workshop manuals? There appears to be plenty of manuals for older models but hard to find one on line for the CK3010 HST with a 3A139 motor. Cheers

Normally a short block means there is no cylinder head. With the cylinder head is a "long block". I think you're going to have to buy the parts manual, and shop manual if you intend to replace the block by yourself. There are companies in the U.S. that list parts, like the engine block, but the CK3010 isn't a model we see here. I did find where a company listed the engine block for a CK30 at just over $2000, but they had more than one block variation listed for that price....so you'd need to start with your numbers, identify the version, and move from there.

Thanks for the assistance GManBart - much appreciated. Unfortuneatly the CK3010 has only just been released on the Australian market and there seems to be very little info available yet. From my reading it is just an upgrade to the CK2810 and runs the same 3A139 Daedong motor as the CK27 and the mahindra 2810 or Farmtrac 270DTC. I will try and get a workshop manual for one of these other models. Could you point me in the direction of companies in the US that list parts.

Thanks Ian
