Kioti DK45 PTO and Shuttle shift PROBLEMS

Hi All,

I've searched, read, searched and read till I was red in the face. I have a 2001 Kioti DK45 and I'm having 2 problems..

Problem 1: When I move the shuttle shift into gear it sometimes doesn't engage forward. Sometimes it does engage if I move from rev to fwd a couple of times. AND sometimes when I'm moving forward, it jumps out of gear. If I hold the shuttle lever in the forward position, it's ok...

Problem 2: I figured that I could still use the tractor and bungie the shuttle lever to hold it in fwd so I can use the bush hog in the field. Well I hooked the hog up and presses the green button. I have power to the green button, but the PTO shaft won't spin....

Please help...I'm at my wits end and getting ready to burry it!...

I also have a DK45, and have not had a problem with the shuttle shift (knock on wood!), but there have been several threads describing the same symptoms as yours, and most turn out to be the shifting fork. It seems the early tractors had a poorly designed fork which ends up bending. Kioti has redesigned it & it is now much stronger. I too have difficulty doing successful 'searches', I'm kinda computer challenged. If you search posts by CajunRider , he has a thread labeled "DK 45 transmission issue?" which is typical of the "Shuttle Shift Problem" threads.

As far as the PTO problem, I am going to assume you do have the switch on the instrument panel set to "manual", or "automatic", with the 3 point hitch lowered. My "green", push button switch sometimes acts up, not engaging the PTO (I think when it acts up, the light doesn't come on, but I could be wrong) Mine is obviously a switch going bad, & yes, I really should replace it, but I just always leave it "on", and use the dash switch. The shop manual is (in my opinion) very poor, but the wiring diagrams (concerning the PTO) are very straight forward. I would check the switches very closely (try both positions on the dash switch), after that I would get the diagram, a 'test light', & start checking where the 'power stops'

I have a 2002 K45 gear drive, 1800 hours. Have had pretty good service from it. The shuttle shifting fork recently broke and had to be replaced; the tractor was separated to get at the gears. The new shifting fork is twice as beefy as the original.
Now, at 2 hours since the repair, the front driveline suddenly locked up, bringing the tractor to a very abrupt sudden stop. The front wheels will not move unless the tractor front end is lifted with the loader, and then they rotate freely, going in opposite directions as normal.
All the oils levels are up as required. I am guessing that something was left undone or done when the tractor was repaired allowing some gears to slip into this problem.
Anyone hear of this problem or have any transmission expertise? I did not do the repairs myself, a local shop did them.
