Not my pictures. Just found those on a Portuguese logging group on Facebook and thought some of you guys might enjoy this.

Here you can see a Kioti DK5010 pulling quite a load of logs. This tractor have to pull this loaded trailer, sometimes up to 50 Km (30 miles) on roads with some decent sized hills. This is also an example on why HST doesn't quite make it over here.

That is impressive! With my luck I would have it loaded like that, go to take off and the front end would come up and the tongue of that trailer would hit the ground. Then I would spend the rest of the day jacking the trailer back up. Lol

Just curious but why is your ROPS and the ROPS in the pictures in the middle of the tractor and not over the operator?

It's a common practice with various brands and trailers in pretty much all sizes. Just the factory front weights seems to be enough to handle a lot of stuff on the trailer.

Just curious but why is your ROPS and the ROPS in the pictures in the middle of the tractor and not over the operator?

The biggest reason is that, when folded, reduces the tractor height by much more than the Rear ROPS. Actually, the highest point is, usually, the steering wheel, without operator.

This is particularly useful when working on vineyard and orchards, as you don't want to damage the trees. The operator can always sneak in between the branches. It's almost a must have in this country.

It still protects the operator just fine because manufactures maintain a small loop behind the operator, which in conjunction with the mid ROPS, creates a two point contact in case of a rollover.

It does have a couple of cons though. Since it folds over the hood, on most brands, it also prevents the hood from opening when the ROPS are folded. The other con is that kinda messes with the loader mounting, so the factory loaders are not offered here. We have no other choice than fitting an aftermarket loader, where they incorporate the ROPS mounts on the loader mounts.

Do most of the smaller tractors over there have an air compressor and air brake controller?
Would that size trailer have brakes on it there?

Air compressors and air brakes are more common on the Eastern Europe. All the Zetor, Belarus, etc, come standard with it.

On the Western and Central Europe, air brakes are used in the bigger tractors, 150HP+. For the smaller ones, it uses hydraulic brakes. It requires the installation of a valve on the tractor.

The trailer on the picture doesn't seem to have brakes though. Some of the newer ones definitely do, it's like optional. Some do have hydraulic drive on the trailer, which also helps controlling the descent when logging on hills.

Dump trailers do have hydraulic brakes and parking brakes as well.
