Kioti L3054 oil light staying on/ new to forum

I am part of a gorup of three neighbors who have all recently bought Kioti tractors. I have a 1996 L3054. I would love to be using it right now but recenly my oil light came on and stayed on. I checked the oil, called the dealer, ( not much support locally, and am wanting to determine if this is an oil sensing unit or worse an oil pump. I have to admit I am not much of a mechanic, but don't want to haul the tractor 35 miles for a minor fix. I am looking for a shop manual but am unable to get any help there from three shops I emailed. Any advise would be appreciated. My three neighbors and I all have Kiotis but are not thrilled with the local service so far. Lookjing for someone with some advise. \Thanks for any help anyone can give me.

Sounds like a bad sending unit . You sure the warning light is a "low pressure" and not a "low oil level" light ? I have seen both . Heck ,I am still trying to figure out all the little warning lights on my new Kioti /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif! I got to go get the owners manual all the time just to figure them out /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif. Do you have a oil pressure guage on the dash that shows oil pressure ? If you have oil pressure, than it is more than likely, a bad sending unit . Trace the wire from the warning light back to the sending unit and look for frayed or worn spots where the wire might be able to touch the frame and ground out . If the wire looks ok then pull the sending unit and give it a good cleaning with solvent . If you got good oil pressure than it can't be the pump .

I would also check the wires and the connection at the oil pressure switch, and the wiring that goes it to, as well as the switch too. The switch is located on the LH side of the engine, close to the firewall. The oil switch turns the light on when the oil pressure drops below 7.1 psi. An inexpensive oil pressure gage can often be attached temporarily to where the sending unit bolts in, this will give you an idea what is realy happening, short of that you can remove the sending unit and crank the engine to see if you are getting oil flow. (don't start it or you will make a mess, keep the manual fuel cutoff pulled). I have seeen oil filters clog to the point that oil pressure is reduced. Also oil gets thick in the cold. How long did it run with the light staying on? sometimes it takes a couple of seconds to go out in the cold.

I would be very surprised if it is anything serious.

This is what I would do !! I would want to know exactly what my oil pressure is doing and go from there..

."Heck ,I am still trying to figure out all the little warning lights on my new Kioti "
I was running kind of fast on my 50c and saw a little light with humps in it ( yellow light)...stupid me thought " hey it must be tellin me im running too fast for the bumpy road conditions". I was amazed at the new technology, UNTIL...I found the coolant bottle level was a little low and it was the coolant level light /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif . Busted MY bubble.. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
