LK3054 hydraulics quitting,,I was pulling my finish mower today and after about 3 hrs the hydraulics quit, Fel, power steering and lift all quit,,turned it off and got off to check for leaks or any thing obvious,,nothing, cranked it back up and worked for a few minutes and could tell it was going to quit,,drove it to the house and let it set a while, not long enuff to cool off and and its working again,,its new to me, I just changed the fluid as I had to replace the pto shift fork,,dont know when the filter was last changed but am going to change it tomorrow if I can find one,,any other suggestions, anybody have a cross reference for the filter,,will try NAPA in the morning

Changing the fluid and filter is a good idea. Even if it doesn't solve your issue, you will have a little more pease of mind.

Was it making any noise while trying to get it going? Also did the RPM have any affect?

I would probably say broken pump drive gear or shaft. Would pull the pump to check both.

Did the engin labour more than normal ? Check if the external controlevalve has a detent and if that lever was in working posision.
Like someone hang his foodparcel on that lever ?

Its metal mesh. Wash it out in kerosene

I pulled the filter off this morning and Ive never seen anything so bad,,about 1/2" La. gumbo mud settled in the bottom of the canister and the filter was horrible, drove 65 miles to my nearest dealer and they had one,,replaced it but have not had a chance to run it other than to just crank and check for leaks,,this should correct this

Tried the x-ref this morning and it only shows, air, fuel and oil

Hopefully that solves the issue. I was afraid it was going to be a cracked pump. Kioti had 3 different pumps for the 3054 depending on year.

They started with a 8GPM pump and later replaced it with a 10GPM version. This version was aluminum and would crack with heat. Many of these pumps were replaced under warranty to a cast version of the 10GPM pump.

From what I see, this pump was a good one. In fact, I upgraded my pump to this version and so far it has been great!

Keep us informed. If you have more issues and it turns out to be the pump, I posted detailed instructions when I upgraded mine. Pretty simple to do but hopefully you have it going.

Before you spend a lot of money, if you have intermittent problems, could be air in the suction line. There is a rubber connector (6" long) in the suction line from the back of the tractor to the pump. We have seen this rubber connector get hard and crack over time, especially at the 2 hose clamps. It doesn't have to leak to be able to suck air and cavitate the pump. Just a simple check before spending a lot of time and money. We have seen this on several older LK3054 Tractor.

Hope this helps.

Could this be a relief valve acting up?

Hopefully the filter was the issue!

I agree that rubber connector can be a problem, I just changed mine last week that I ordered from Michigan Iorn.

I never had a issue with the pressure relief but it certainly could be a problem. But if the problem still exists, I would look very closely at that pump.

Could this cause intermittent steering failure? Happens once in a while especially when I'm bush-hogging, steering stops responding. Turning the wheel back & forth a couple times "fixes" it. Only affects steering, not FEL.

Where is this hose, is it easily accessible?

Yes, this could be a cause of steering loss. Could be other issues as discussed here, but air in the system can be a cause.

The rubber connector is near the bell housing behind the pump. Follow the suction line from the back of the tractor along the right side, you'll find the connector near the bell housing.

Hope this helps.
