Kioti Tractor LB2204 for $6500

Hello, new here to the forum, and have the usual Newbie type questions.

I saw this in a local classified :

Kioti Tractor LB2204, 4x4, 21 hp diesel w/3 pt hitch, front end loader, turf tires, $6500

I am interested in a tractor with a FEL and MMM. I have 3 acres, but only mow about 2 the other acre is woods. The whole thing is on a fairly steep hill, with a big flat spot on top where the house is. I need the FEL for trying to make more flat spots as well as a lot of patio/stone work.
Will need to move dirt, gravel and stone dust, and eventually some mulch. I would like to get rid of my current mower as well as my snow blower. Also curious about PTO driven wood chipper so I can get rid of mine wood chipper if it makes economic sense.

I don't know much about the Kioti's and am wondering if this looks like a good deal?

Hi eblade. First let me welcome you to the forum. Second, go to my home at the top of the page, and then click personal settings. It helps members to know where you're located, and the particulars found in those settings. Someone close to your location may be better suited to helping you as well.

The 2204 was discontinued quite some time ago, but parts are still available from all that I know. I think you would have to buy a universal MMM though as I don't think one was made for that model.

If you were to look into getting a CK20, it has a mid pto standard, and a MMM option. With financing rates the way they are, it may behoove you to buy new. You could get a new one for about twice the price, but it would be new with 4 year warranty. The 2204 is probably a teenager.

I saw one online right after I saw this post for $5,000. Do a search on google and see what other prices you can find.

An FEL isn't the best tool for making flat spots as they are only going to dig so far. They are really designed for, guess what, loading! It can be done, but it's an arduous task to dig a lot with an FEL. A backhoe is better, and you might just want to rent one or buy one with the tractor.

I know my backhoe has been invaluable and has probably paid for itself in the last 2 1/2 years in jobs I didn't hire out.

The 2204 is a big frame 22HP tractor. It is very similar to the 2554.
Check to see if it has power steering, it was an option on the older Kioti's, it also does not have a live PTO.
It does have an internal ORC though.
The hydro pumps were also marginal on these for a front loader.
They worked good and were dependable, just slow.
I would say if it will do the job and is in good condition, it is a decent deal.
It also depends on what brand and the condition of the loader.
BUT a little more money you could get a more suitable unit and as has been stated, if you are financing it's hard to beat a new one.

I just seen the same model tractor for 4000 dollars..It has no attachments with it..So is it possible to get a front end plow for this model..I would like a bucket for it,but am courious as to the hyd. lift power,etc..Please,can someone tell me about attachments for this model or would I be better off getting a newr tractor? This one is a 1988..Thanks so much.....John

John, just checked my tractor value book and it shows that the 2204 was only made in 1988, 1989 & 1990. It was discontinued after that. Machine had 19hp at the PTO, had a 3 cyl diesel Daedong engine, 8 forward & 2 reverse gears and tips the scales at 2290 for the 1988 model year and 2160 if it's the 1989 or 1990 model.

At $4k without anything, it's not exactly a bargain (you didn't say how many hours it has on it and that's critical to value). Also, without attachments, it is much less desirable. Personally, I'd walk away and look around more. Sometimes it takes a year of looking and researching to find an acceptable used model. Be patient, keep looking and you'll eventually find the right machine for your needs. If you let us know what you intend to do with the machine, how much property you'll be maintaining, etc. the bloggers on this forum could give you better advice. Good luck.

the hour meter does not work or so the man says...My main use for this tractor will be plowing the drive and maybe working a small garden..Do they make just a snow plow for this rig?
And waht about a plow for the garden...Thanks for the replys

I have had an LK2554 for about 5 years now. It is probably the next generation of the tractor you are looking at. I really can't help you with the price, but, it does sound high for the basic tractor. I like my 2554 a lot. Never gives me any trouble and is a real work horse. Front mounted snowplows aren't made for many tractors that I know of. Most people get a rear blade and plow backwards or forwards. (depends on your style) Any I've heard of with front mounted plows made their own mounts etc. Others get rear mounted snow blowers and in some cases front mounted snow blowers for more money. Plowing with this size tractor is generally done with a pto tiller. I suppose you could pull a modest plow and disk harrow. Hope I answered some of your questions. There are some very knowledgeable folks on this forum, maybe they will chime in.
