Kioti CK 3510 HST
Wondering if anyone has insight into this. Its a CK3510 HST 2017

My regen light came on at 29 hours while doing some brush hogging, so I parked and put everything in neutral, letting the engine idle at about 1800 rpm for about 5 minutes

Then I hit the regen button to initiate regen as the manual suggests. The regen light goes off for a second, then comes back on. No blinking light as others have mentioned, and i didn't notice a difference in rpm either. I figured the regen must be taking place, so i let it idle for 30 minutes anyway. THen I walk back out to the tractor and the regen light is off.

Does that mean the regen succesfully completed? Or am I having an issue with the regen function? Maybe im leaving it in too high rpm during idle? If the regen didn't work I imagine the light would stay on and it having gone off means the regen was succesful?

Thanks for any insight.

Edit: I tried brush hogging again and regen light re appeared. So I parked again on level ground and idled at lower rpm for 5 minutes in neutral on everything. Pressed regen button and the indicator goes away for a second, then the tractor sort of seems like it's trying to go higher rpm but doesn't, and then regen light re appears. I tried 3 more times doing this after idling at different rpms but the same issue occurred each time.

When the regen light came on on my 3510 I put it in neutral and set the throttle @2200 RPM and everything went smoothly. It went on @ 29 hrs. I don't let mine idle for more than a minute and that helps a bunch with lengthening the time between regens.

I put my trottle all the way down at idle and press the regen button for a few seconds until it go into regen. It will automatically rev the engine all the way up. After 30-40 mins the rpm’s will automatically decrease but not to where I originally set it. After another 5-10 mins it’ll automatically go all the way down where I set it. I have found you have to make sure you hold the regen button down long enough. Seems to be a little longer than what they mention in the manual.

It seems I mistook the "regen in progress" light for "regren needed". This is due to there being no information in the user manual about the tractor going into "auto regen", where the "regen in progress" light stays solid and the tractor regins while you are working. This is what was taking place, as opposed to a manual regen. I continued bush hogging and the light went off after about 20 minutes, and i noticed performance improvements after that.

The manual really should talk more about how there is an automatic regen that kicks in, but it doesn't appear to give much information beyond manual regen info...

The manual doesn't explain the process well at all. When I get the regen light I make sure to keep the RPM's up over 2200 and keep on working. I've never stopped or idled to see what it would do. Sometimes I need to push the button several times before it kicks in...it's different every time...NUTS!
But I love it anyway :dance1:

I'll offer this; with highway trucks one would hold the regen button in until the engine's ECU takes command and initiates the start of the regeneration process by raising the RPM's on its own. That would be typical of diesel engine functionality and I see no logic in why tractors would be different.

I've heard the EU is already phasing out DEF and there have been major breakthroughs by BMW and, I think Bosch, with some sort of ammonia additive that absolutely eliminates the NOX.

Cheers

Mine (different model Kioti) has a big sticker on the left fender explaining the 2 lights, and what to do if you see them. My manual also covers both kinds in pretty good detail.

Mine did its first regen a few days ago. Other than the smell, I didn't even realize it was doing it. Had started and dash light was on, but odd smell is what I noticed before the dash light. At delivery, dealer told me it would be very odd for me to need to initiate the regen process or see the "regen needed" light. Said as long I wasn't forcing it to delay regen when it wanted to or turning off machine during, it would just do it automatically.

You have to set the parking brake for the manual regen to work properly.

I have run Optilube XPD since the first tank of diesel and it regents automatically every 40 house +/-2. I mention the Optilube because of some trucks people claim this additive causes earlier regens (I use it on my Duramax’s and don’t see it but who knows).

I run at 1800+ all the time unless I just started up the tractor and I’m letting it warm up or just idling at 1000 or so for a minute or two before shutdown. Never had to do a manual regen. Most times if I’m Mowing or whatever I will notice a slight sound change and that’s it and notice the regen light come on. Takes about 20-30 minutes and light shuts off. I’ve never had to stop work for any reason while it’s been going on. CK3510 cab

dealer told me that if it's regenning you can't turn it off..it will continute to run/regen then, if you shut off the key, will shut itself off...

I'm at 28.x hours now...if working I keep the revs up at 1800+ (as instructed for DPF and cooler/better HST). I do idle some - when attaching implements, chatting with a neighbor/co worker.

When the diesel buses at work regen while driving the odor is very noticeable so when my CK3510 goes into regen I"ll know it.

The only smell I get now is an oil (90w or similar) smell when doing loader work. I see no leaks and all fluids are full...
