I'm considering the purchase of a kit type greenhouse and was wondering if anyone has suggestions as to who sell's what and who is reputable. I'm looking for a size around 16 feet wide by 50 feet long. I realize there are a bunch of configurations, poly, thinwall, glass etc. but can afford something in the $8,000 range. Any input is appreciated, pretty green in this area. I"ve had gardens for years, but the weather here in Morganton, NC has really been lousy for gardens lately. Thanks again.

For $8000, you can get quite a nice one, I imagine.
We went basic with one of these: green-house-kit.net

we're putting up ~10k sq. ft of high tunnels (not to be confused with greenhouses, there are differences). i suggest looking into them. we're having our made locally (NH):

Ledgewood Farm-greenhouse frame, high tunnel, New Hampshire

the prices are much less than conventional GHs, and in some cases, superior for growing under plastic.

my personal experience with kits is that they stink - they're difficult to erect, over priced, and expensive to maintain.

good luck.

The timing of your message was perfect. I received an 82 page catalog in the mail today from ClearSpan.com. They have hundreds of types of greenhouses, carports, party tents, tunnel buildings, kits and they also sell the rigid twin wall polycarbonate sheets and supplies for using those sheets. Call them for a catalog. 800-603-4445

Costco.com sells kits but you have to be a member.

Kits as mentioned are expensive, at the old house I bult my own with outdoor wood and Suntuff plastic from home depot, ran water and electric out to it for the fan and had the temperature thingys that when the temp. goes up it expanded out and opened up a roof panel. The total cost was cheaper and bigger than any kit I found.

I suppose you have a plan forthe use of this "greenhouse" ? As a previous poster mentioned High Tunnells and greenhouses are diffferent.

Based on your dimensions, It would appear you have a different intention than a greenhouse.

Cold Frame - Overwinter plants, keep them above freezing or the minimal temperatur they can withstand. Minimal Season extending as a general rule

Greenhouse - Year round climate control, Growing plants out of season not just keeping them alive. The control systems of this structure typically are more than the building itself.

I have a greenhoouse albeit small. I use it for seed propogation, plant propogation, liner development for plants that I plan on using around the house, and as a play toy.

I could certainly use a could frame structure for my younger plants that have no where to go as the temperatures drop. Instead I just heal them in and throw something over them when temps get too low. (mind you I am not in NC, I am in TN (west)).

You use for the GH will help dictate usefull replies...
