I have a new xb tiller. I was using the tiller today and got a rock jammed in it and it stalled the tractor shouldn't the slip clutch prevent that or do i have to adjust it i read the Manuel and did not understand that. I do not know anything about slip clutches any help would be appreciated Thanks

Usually the slip clutches are preset at the PTO factory and may need to be adjusted for each size tiller they go on and also soil type plays a factor. Many Tiller Mfgrs buy shafts from who ever has the best deal and you are kinda on your own when setting the tension on a new one as they change vendors from time to time. Ken Sweet

yeah- slip clutch supposed to prevent it. Its not adjusted properly. I loosen the all nuts pushing on springs until spring rattles. Then I test to make sure tines doesnt rotate by leaving it on ground and engage the the pto. IF the tines still turns, the clutch might be rusted together.

hopefully, you will have the manual for your slip clutch- it will tell you how much the springs should be compressed when you tighten up the nuts.
